Advantages: Great atmospheric work Disadvantages: what they were once capible off
...3 different new versions of Tour de France, a superb mixture of Trance and European techno, which sets the mood for the rest of the album with each song paying reference to another aspect of cycling. Throughout the album you are drawn in to the whole sound and as ever Kraftwerk appear to have yet again mastered the art of making electronic music that causes an emotional response, true genius if you ask me. The use of a vocoder for all the vocals ... ...of the original version of Tour De France which was released on the 80th anniversary of the tour when they had two electronic percussionists and you are brought back to what this band once were. You once again hear the complex rhythms that they used to create, and this counter pointed against the minimal arrangements of the synths. This is what they excelled at making perfect pop tunes which despite being on the surface souless had increadable depth, ...
Advantages: Music to really relax to. Disadvantages: Movement 3 breaks the mood somewhat!
...first track (movement 1) of Soil Festivities, and showed him actually playing and recording it. It started with thunder and rain, and then lots of birds and animals gathering around an African watering hole to drink. I was captivated. There are no actual animal sounds used but birds are mimicked by the synthesisers. The music is so gentle, uplifting and soothing. Layer upon layer of beautiful sounds. Very warm feeling. Completely instrumental throughout. ... ...really make synthesiser music that is full of emotion and feeling. There a 5 movements to this album. Movement 3 is less relaxing, more turbulent, and not one of my favourites. The other tracks more than make up for this. Perfect for background or upfront listening. Good for bedtime (except movement3). Highly recommended if you like relaxing instrumental music. ...

Advantages: A really great sound Disadvantages: Lack of differentiation, but it is a drone album!
How to start when it comes to a band such as Fuck Buttons? Obviously, already it is clear that this band will never diverge into the mainstream even without listening to the music, so you are already prepared for a sound that is out of the ordinary before you plug in (just to say, in my opinion this is definitely an album designed to be listened through headphones, like Burial's works, not shouted out through huge bass filled speakers). From the ... ...highlights of the album, you can already tell if you are going to like this album or not. "Fuck Buttons" have a very unique sound that is minimalistic, but not at all boring. The opening track begins with rapid fast moving sounds that pan across you like bees trying to escape from a jar. Then a steady 4/4 beat kicks in, and the noise settles down and is replaced by an equally first whirring sound before the heavily synthesized bass line commences. ...
Advantages: Lyrically brilliant, catching beat and a good dance electo style. Overall a great listen. Disadvantages: A few songs with no lyrics don't stand out.
...his long awaited second album, Ready For The Weekend. Released on 18th August 2009, the album headed to number one in the album charts. The album as a whole has an 80’s 90’s feel with the beats, dynamics and the auto tuned vocals. The album is easy to listen to and the lyrics are catchy and work well.
