Scruff for beginners

Advantages: A great starter scruff album
Disadvantages: good, but not as good as keep it solid steel

Its sort of electronic funky jazz. Mostly. Lots of other bits get a look in here and there. I found this album by mistake. In fact I found ninja tune by mistake, hunting U.N.K.L.E mp3s found me Coldcut, which led me onto ninja tune. But enough of that, I could talk about the random ways I find good tunes for hours. It never sounds the same when the red light is on!

Advantages: Some classic tunes and great live shows
Disadvantages: Slightly let down by the hype

...dissapointed on 1st listen of sound mirrors. The album just doesn't seem to have any stand out tracks and it washes over you very quickly, not in a good way though, non of the tracks had hooks and some just droned me into the ground. I thought i would give it a second chance but after hearing it for the second time after 10 minutes i had had enough and it went in the never to be played again pile. Sampling as music in "Bricolage"

Advantages: Experimental and occasionally creative sampling
Disadvantages: Some tracks become repetitive. Others simply don't work.

“Bricolage” released in 1997 is Amon Tobin’s first album using his own name (he had previously released “Adventures in Foam” under the name Cujo). A quick flick through the basic album sleeve yields only a definition: “Bricolage: a process which uses given material, given signifiers (a text, a chord sequence) but which creates from these new signifiers, a new reality which is not given. ” and a quote from the book “The Savage Mind” by Claude Lévi-Strauss: ...

All Hail The Sample Master!

Advantages: Very different, highly inventive
Disadvantages: Conventional music becomes less exciting after this! Some tracks are atmospheric "noise" rather than music
