Lets Hunt and Kill Bryan Adams
Advantages: Chilled Out Slightly Disturbing Stuff Disadvantages: Me Ranting About Vanishing Point
...Record label says that "The Campfire Headphase has already achieved critical acclaim to rival its predecessors. What defines this album from previous work is Boards' desire to simply make a melodic, beautiful record. Playing out like a road movie, The Campfire Headphase is a dense and intricate collection of music, immersing the listener in kaleidoscopic swathes of spacious live instrumentation and trademark isolated chords of sound. Here, Boards ... ...of instruments, all of which they played themselves" but what does all that mean????????
Take "Chromarkey Dreamcoat" with its loop of a heavily treated with electronics acoustic guitar played with some slight violence, backed by swooping and burbling synths, and a hip hop drum type thing going on, is a prime example of what this album has to offer, relaxing, atmospheric and ever so slightly disturbing. Whilst a lot of electronic music can come across ...

Jamie Lidell - Multiply (2005)
Advantages: nostalgia, vocals, composition Disadvantages: nothing to do with previous album
When Multiply was released I believe something must have exploded supernova-like in outer space due to some cause and effect phenomena. This was my first experience listening to Jamie Lidell, though I had seen his name on the Warp website for sometime. I tried to listen to his other albums afterwards, but to be honest, I was quite disappointed!
Here Jamie has shook the ground with an attempt to recreate the early funk soul groove of the 70's and ... ...I come back Around" I felt like I was being taken back in time to the era of funk. I can imagine Otis Redding, Michael Jackson and James Brown trembling.
While it's by far the best album I've heard in years, in comparison to his earlier work, there's absolutely nothing in common. Anybody can listen to "Multiply" easily, but other Jamie Lidell albums are to be handled with care. Ultimately, this is a great buy, but not something to judge the artist ...

Definitive dreamy tunes
Advantages: Wonderful multicultural styles - relaxing, sensual and uplifting Disadvantages: None
...George has done some travelling in his time, absorbing geographically-varied music styles, bringing them back to his studio to blending into rich compositions. Caribbean reggae, Mexican samba, Persian strings and gospel choruses all make an appearance in this amalgamation of world music styles. THE TRACKS:
"Passion"
Very sexy, strange & funky. A great warm welcome, and an outstanding track, easily the best. Eerie female voices sooth the senses, ... ...rhythms and heavy percussions. Similar in style to the likes of Mr. Scruff, with all its comedic beats and funky tempo. Towards the end of the track, the bass and trumpets really grab you, creating a dizzying sense of dance and energy. "Damn!"
Persian influenced harpsichord lies quietly in the background to this track, which creates images of exotic, dreamy Arabian landscapes. The synthesised strings and subtle trumpets welcome a group of soulful ...

Bored of Sinatra?
Advantages: One of the best electro albums available Disadvantages: You cannot go back to how life was before!
...This is the sort of music that you have to let yourself go to; you can experience other worlds without drugs kids, and the Boards of Canada is one way of getting there.
By far the best track on the album for me (and just about everyone who I know who has heard it) is ROYGBIV (yes, the colours of the rainbow). When I listened to it for about the 10th time with two of my friends back in the summer of 2002, we all agreed that it sounded a bit like ... ...the number 4 broke up and then some early morning documentary came on instead of cartoons. Grr. Anyway, it would seem that such unfortunate compositions have been redeemed by this icon of pulsating brilliance. It is one of the shortest pieces on the album too. Many people have asked the Boards why they made it so short. their answer is usually that less is more, and I agree with them there. you know when you are lying in bed at night and just before ...

The "Miles_Gurtu" experiment
Advantages: A blend of intricate beats, varied jazzy melodies and experimental soundscapes. Disadvantages: Over-tweaking disrupts the ambience occasionally. No mainstream appeal. Some tracks don't work.
Take a Swiss-Italian ambient trance producer (Robert Miles) and blend together with an Indian percussionist (Trilok Gurtu). Add other talented musicians to the mix and allow to simmer gently, making sure you season generously with electronic sculpting and processing. The resulting album is an interesting fusion of acoustic instruments, electronic processed sounds, intricate beats, jazz and experimental soundscapes. Released in 2004, “MilesGurtu” ... ...the dream trance that he became famous for. It builds on his previous album “Organik” (released in 2001), which was his first attempt at creating an experimental sound. This album is characterised by being completely instrumental although 3 tracks feature vocal samples. Double bass, strings, guitar and rhodes performances feature frequently, creating delicate melodies whilst complex beats are generated from drums and tabla. Many tracks shift and ...
