Clubbed to Death
Review of Furious Angels - Rob Dougan by
mfrith
Advantages: one of the most breathtaking albums
Disadvantages: not expect an album full of 'Clubbed to Death' type tracks
Being a big fan of Rob's classic 'Clubbed to Death' track, I had big expectations for this album. It's also connected with Cheeky Records, which another big plus in my opinion, founded by Rollo (brother of Dido) and home to Faithless, amongst others.
In fact 'Clubbed to Death' does feature on this double album, along with the (not so impressive) follow up which is imaginatively titled 'Clubbed to Death 2'. Its not a track thats easily describable, ... ...just makes the hairs on the back of your neck sit up and listen.
Following the same formula is 'Furious Angels', again really exempt from any musical genre, which may sound familiar though, as it was used in the Matrix films.
Whilst the rest of the album is not as immediate nor stand-out as the previous two tracks, it does continue on a 'classical dance' theme. Don't make the mistake of just listening to this once for these just grow and grow, ,each ...

The Knife, cutting through music with a new style
Review of Silent Shout - Knife (The) by
NegativeG
Advantages: Very different, some nice songs on there
Disadvantages: Might be a bit too wierd for some, last two tracks were a bit weak
This album is quite unique in its style. The music is mainly electronic with some weird singing and some unusual angles to approach music to.
It might sound bizarre, but it is a good album.
It's an eleven track album and many of the songs have a strange feel about them. For example, "The Captain" starts off with a feedback type noise that makes a slow, varying tune for a couple of minutes before anything else really comes in. Some tracks really ... ...is no drum beat.
They are very fond of unusual singing and unusual lyrics and really seem to like their use of the multi-tap delay effect which can sound really bad, but these are masters of the effect.
Highlights of the album include Neverland (on of my favourites), We Share Our Mother's Health and Marble House. All amazing songs. I wasn't so keen on the end of the album, the last two tracks were a bit of a let-down for me, but perhaps thats just ...

blondgem
Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -
...from his UK debut album Now YOu're Gone and is extremely popular with the younger generation and those like myself that wanted to listen to something that took them back to their younger clubbing days.
I was curious to listen to this album, although I am probably a little too old now for this kind of music, years ago I quite liked the tracks from Ultrabeat, although they do become extremely annoying and the lyrics are rather dire, in comparison ... ...Track Listing

Very Good Album, Some Excellent Remixes

sm276
Advantages: Cracking Remixes, Good Line Up
Disadvantages: A Few Very Annoying Vocals
...that really needs to be heard), 3. Styles and Breeze - Youre Shining.
This album fills the gap between the Clubland range and the Clubland Hardcore range and is definetely worth a listen for anybody who is into their Dance music and is looking for something a little harder. ...

Nice Relaxing Vocal Trance
Review of Sirens Of The Sea [Digipak] - OceanLab by
sm276
Advantages: Good Flow, Some Nice Tracks
Disadvantages: Too Vocal For Some
...overly convinced by Oceanlab as Sirens of the Sea was not one of my favourite tracks when I heard it last year, but despite that - the album is brilliant.
I first heard about this album when it was plugged on A State Of Trance (Armins weekly radio show) and decided it was worth a look.
As you would expect from Oceanlab the album is very vocal and does contain some beautiful tracks, 'Miracle' is my personal favourite on the album, I believe (and ...
