Culture Beat - 'Serenity' (1993)

Advantages: Innovative, original, breathtakingly diverse, emotive, and damn funky!
Disadvantages: Title track is poor; a few more songs because it's all over too soon!
The 'Serenity' album by Culture Beat was released in the UK in 1993, and went on to spawn 3 hit singles (and one dud). If you are a fan of old school Euro-dance, I cannot recommend this album highly enough. It has dated extremely well, sounding surprisingly fresher now than at the time. What makes this album miles better than those of their peers at the time (Acapella, 2 Unlimited et al) is the extraordinarily versatile ideas, arrangements and sounds. ...

With the exception of the dull and overblown title track, every song on the album is a killer, and the way they mix and match is quite extraordinary.
