Advantages: Covers a wide spectrum of B Boy influenced music
Disadvantages: For me it is very difficult to choose the best track from the album!

Upon first listening to this album you immediatley realise the immense amount of work that has gone into these crazy sound collages. Some of the edits must have taken eons to compile! The bonus tracks that are mingled with the hectic editmixing give your head just enough time to fully digest what just happened to your ears. This album is for those who appreciated the skills of Double Dee & Steinski, Coldcut, The Latin Rascals, Omar Santana, Sam Sever etc. and all pioneers of the cut n'paste, editmix and mastermix styles. In mountains, a cirque is a semicircular amphitheater shaped feature with steep walls carved by a glacier. With this definition, we can only assume that Geir Jenssen (aka Biosphere) will take us once again to a trip into high altitudes. ...side. 'Nook And Cranny' and 'Grand Dome' set up the atmosphere with their peaceful pads, dub influenced basslines and light beats. Dropsonde marks in a way a return to the rhythmical elements that characterised his first two albums; only that this time the (not that many in number actually) beats are quite different from the typical techno derived monolithic rhythm. That's because the inspiration (and quite a lot of samples) comes from jazz music, which works perfectly in compliance with the ambient material. The music on Dropsonde is quite gentle ...
...not dominate the melodies and the ambience but rather doesn't leave them stray . Don't imagine breakbeats of course, the drums are basically loops of mid tempo jazz beats with some exceptions like Daphnis 26 where the old school techno beat sort of returns from the past. This was in fact the first 'Fierce Angel' CD that i had. I picked it up whilst away in the balaeric island of Ibiza, and have never put it down since. It goes everywhere with me, and im still loving it as much as the first time i heard it!
