Advantages: Eclectic and ground-breaking Disadvantages: Some complaints of dodgy vocals (I disagree)
...I was so pleasantly surprised. From the Double Gone Chapel is much darker than anything else of his I've heard but not in a teen-angst sort of way; It's more pensive.
The opening track "Stack Up" actually brings to mind a moden day Frank Zappa in the way it experiments with sound and rhythm and the addition of guitar riffs on several of the other tracks really does it for me. Guitar-riffs? Don't panic electro lovers; there are plently of industrial ... ...have heard a few concerns from others regarding Weatherall's dodgy vocal talents but can reassure you that they are misplaced. The atmosphere created by his growls on the primarily vocal track "Punches and Knives" is perfect and chilling and on "Kamanda's Response" they complement the track superbly.
All in all, I'd highly recommend this to anyone; old school lovers, techno lovers and indie lovers alike... ...
Advantages: Classic. Cult. A few good tracks. Disadvantages: Weak compared to other Aphex Twin releases. Bland techno.
...major works, both in 1993: Surfing on Sine Waves and the Quoth Ep.
Both of these are fresh but somewhat lacking works, typifying Richard's Analogue Bubblebath series (1990-91 to 1995) as well as his AFX-ish style; in other words, not his best work.
Latter on, Richard would move onto more composite and genre-defying releases. But his Polygon Window era was a product of old school I.D.M-esque design; or more specifically, primitive techno. Surfing ... ...drums, solo-like and graceful.
Surfing on Sine Waves is like a formative disorganized work, appearing bizarrely between two important releases: the two Selected Ambient Works albums. It does not seem to make any sense. But that's probably the basis of S.O.S.W's charm.
It sounds like an insightful look at latter material, a sign of things to come; but it also features the same thumping and unnecessary technoid fabric that would spoil the latter ...
Advantages: Techno at its purest Disadvantages: Getting a bit dated now.
This could well be the album that got me into minimalist techno when I listened to it many years ago. I haven't gone on to become a great DJ, or even a DJ, but have continued to love beats. I'm not going to go into any individual tracks as the album works as a whole. I first got this as a tape copy and listened to it constantly up until a few years ago when I finally got a cd player in my car. One of the first things I did was to get it on cd. I ...

Review of Frequencies - LFO
Advantages: A blend of intricate beats, varied jazzy melodies and experimental soundscapes. Disadvantages: Over-tweaking disrupts the ambience occasionally. No mainstream appeal. Some tracks don't work.
Take a Swiss-Italian ambient trance producer (Robert Miles) and blend together with an Indian percussionist (Trilok Gurtu). Add other talented musicians to the mix and allow to simmer gently, making sure you season generously with electronic sculpting and processing. The resulting album is an interesting fusion of acoustic instruments, electronic processed sounds, intricate beats, jazz and experimental soundscapes. Released in 2004, “MilesGurtu” ... ...the dream trance that he became famous for. It builds on his previous album “Organik” (released in 2001), which was his first attempt at creating an experimental sound. This album is characterised by being completely instrumental although 3 tracks feature vocal samples. Double bass, strings, guitar and rhodes performances feature frequently, creating delicate melodies whilst complex beats are generated from drums and tabla. Many tracks shift and ...

Theres some old time favourites and some current classics with some great remixes and with 3 cds you really do get your moneys worth. Its a mixture of house and dance and a little bit of trance thrown in. You can dance to this music and it really would ...
