nightmares on wax first success
Review of Word Of Science, A (The 1st & Final Chapter) - Nightmares On Wax by
dvdmonk
Advantages: good album with funky techno beats in a mellow mix
Disadvantages: good album but a bit on the wierd side.
...newer electronic sounds, and "A Word of Science" did just that. The duo's classic debut single, "Dextrous," was a bleepy dance track built on a see-saw synth line and skeletal beats, but "Aftermath," a minor UK hit when it was released as the follow-up, integrated stuttering soul vocals with honest-to-god breakbeats. The full-length continued this evolution, moving from the orchestral soul of "Nights Interlude" to the Emerald City disco of "A Case ... ..."A Word of Science" connects the dots between the rap nation and the rave massive with as much style and humor as has ever been done. I will say gofor this cd but i would proberly put this down as a third or forth item on the list. ...

A Delight
Review of Smokers Delight - Nightmares On Wax by
pshearer13
Advantages: You will feel very cool listening to this.
Disadvantages: It'll cost you money as you will buy the other albums
A fantastic album that is chilled and laid back with very funky beats. The sort of album that you put on your stereo in the early hours when the party is almost over and everyone is half asleep on the sofas. The perfect remedy to a heavy night out, whether you're into dance or guitar you'll love it. As the title suggests it is listened to by many a recreational smoker, but don't let that put you off if that's not your thing it is an album equally ...

In Silico... Disappointing
Review of In Silico - Pendulum by
thedunn1
Advantages: Not many
Disadvantages: I'm now £9 poorer
...is the drum n bass in this album? Unless I'm mistaken, one of the tracks on here is guitar based and could be classed as a rock song. Nothing against rock but if I wanted a rock song I'd have bought one. Annoying synthesizer most of the way through, half hearted feeble bass line when there is one at all. Average easy going album, just don't buy this album if you are a hard drum n bass fan. You will be very disappointed. It is a shame that Pendulum ...

A nice assorted mix
Review of Oxygene 7-13 - Jean Michel Jarre by
atytyut2434
Advantages: It's JMJ!
Disadvantages: Sounds a bit too much like other stuff in certain places
...to the same themes.
Oxygene 7 reminds me of something from Bladerunner if I'm honest but is still a great track.
Oxygene 8, One of my personal faves & I never understood why this wasn't released as a single as it had all the right ingredients to be a dance hit & make JMJ a household name. This wouldn't be out of place in any club & would certainly find a willing audience in places lke Ibiza.
Oxygene 9, It has more elements of Pink Floyd & Magnetic ... ...back in about 1980.
Oxygene 11, another one that reminds me too much of Magentic Fields & Equinoxe
Oxygene 12, another track that could have been released as a single & would have easily found an audience in the clubs. Also has elements that remind me Bladerunner (its that background arpeggio!).
Oxygene 13, this is very definately the most Oxygene-esque of all these tracks ( as I recall this was normally one of the last tracks he played at the ...

Destination AWESOME!
Review of Destination Docklands (The London Concert) - Jean Michel Jarre by
atytyut2434
Advantages: As good as being there
Disadvantages: No fireworks.
...night Mike Mansfield shot his Destination Docklands Video.
Track 1 is a short intro version of Revolutions which I don't remember being played on the night itself at all.
Track 2 is Industrial Revolutions Overture which was recorded on the 2nd of the 2 nights (I can tell because theres no 2nd set of cheering near the start when they screwed up getting one of the projections back to front then upside down)
Track 3 is Industrial Revolutions parts ... ...mainly reactions to projections & some fireworks, you are hearing the console master version of the music so you won't hear any of the fireworks in the background as all the mics are aimed the stage. Crowd reactions were louder than the fireworks!
Track 4 is Magnetic Fields part 4, one of JMJ's staples which is very well received.
Track 5 is Oxygene 4 which gets a great reaction to all the fireworks & projections again.
Track 6 is Computer Weekend, ...
