As you already know, the black eyed peas havent exactly been well known for their great rapping and MC-ing but this album, Elephunk does them a lot of credit!

This is the Black Eyed Pea's third album believe it or not and this time they have cracked it! Rather than this album being all hardcore hip-hop and rap etc the Black Eyed Peas have gone for the more conventional approach of creating a party album if you like to target a wider audience.

They could not have picked a better first single, than the foreve popular Where is the Love?This song expresses its concern over the state of the world today in many different ways. Elephunk is full of mostly pointless and sometimes just daft lyrics such as they continually "keep it stinky" on Smells Like Funk. Topics covered include partying, sexy girls, booty shaking, and, well, partying.

The first track, Hands Up features a horn section that sounds swiped from Get Smart and a perfectly placed slide guitar. The only problem with this however is that Fergie nearly ruins it with a weak middle rap. I think we both know she is not a singer or a rapper, in my opinion if the Black Eyed Peas hired a female who could sing they would be even more successful!!

Fergie is a weird one. She can sound so good sometimes and other times she can be absolutely awful! Her sole writing credit seems to be on Fly Away, which doesn't sound to healthy at all im afraid. But for the most part she does her job well, singing back-up on the choruses on most tracks, filling Kim Hill's role from Bridging the Gaps. She particulary shines on the strained relationship drama, Shut Up which they released not so long back.

Most of the material from Elephunk dates back to between a year or two ago. Remarkably, Elephunk still sounds fresher than a lot of hip hop albums released today, mostly thanks to member Will.I.Am's innovative production. I

Overall after listening to this album, i was so happy that i had purchased it because it is always a superb album to put on whenever you're hosting a party on a friday night!! I recommend it
