Tripping Daisy are a band that most people will be unaware off, this isn't because they were a bad group or that their music was poor, it was more about promotion and our countries aparant dislike of American rock music.
The band formed in 1991 and were soon getting quite a name for themselves in their local area, entering and winning a variety of different band competitions.
They then went on to write and record a few singles and their debut album, Bill, which was originally released on a smalltime label, but when the band signed for Island records this was rereleased.
Around this time the band had started to get noticed a little by the music press around the world, and were unfairly being given the tag of the new Janes Addiction, when really...

Advantages: Pretty, uplifting tunes with fun lyrics Disadvantages: Will not stay in your cd player for too long.
...Nobody's pushing up any daisies on this one folks. With sounds of tweeting birds and 2 songs with "daisies" in the title, this album is most certainly a lot happier than the last 2. But does that mean it's the best? Well, no. For me, Eels' best album to date is still their fantastic debut, Beautiful Freak. But this cd is nonetheless excellent. Musically, it is very similar to the sad, mournful Electro-Shock Blues, but it is juts the opposite - bright, cheery with pretty uplifting songs. I strongly recommend this great cd....

Advantages: Great lyrics | Nice and quirky Disadvantages: Songs pretty short | More variety would be nice
...While Electro-shock Blues was described as the ‘funeral’ Mark Everett (E) describes the third album as the ‘wake’. The Eels have always been known to make some slightly bizarre and quirky songs and this album is no exception. However while Electro-shock Blues was a dark album, full of the subject of death and self loathing, Daisies of the Galaxy is a far more high spirited album, although a lot more well rounded than Beautiful Freak.
At the time of writing this album E had already wrote enough material to make an additional three. He commented that the songs he wrote were a mixture of both dark and light hearted style. Daisies of the Galaxy seems to follow the path of light hearted but traces of the style from Electro-shock Blues are still evident in some songs of the album.
