As an Elvis fan (as most of you know by now) I thought Id tell you about part of my Elvis collection. For a while Ross and I have been collecting the BMG’s Follow That Dream collectors label.

The presentation of these CD’s is very classy. Not your standard jewel case. The CDs opens as a book with rare pictures. Most of the songs on these CD’s have never been released before.

The Follow That Dream label was started in 1999 by RCA/BMG records. Their aims are to release unreleased Elvis material to the fans and/or release tracks that wouldn’t be suitable for normal shops.

These albums are limited editions and are only produced once. Once they are sold out that’s it. 99% of all albums have a particular theme to them

Album

Burbank 68
23 tracks from the 68 comeback special inc 14 unreleased tracks Highlight of the album is a rehearsal from the dressing room.

Easter Special
19 gospel songs spanning from 1957-73 All songs are unreleased alternate takes

One Night In Vegas
23 unreleased tracks in amazing quality from that’s the way it is. Rehearsal of 5 songs included

That’s The Way It Is
An Audiovisual book containing details of Elvis’s recording sessions with a 25 track CD featuring 19 unreleased tracks. Highlights include Ghost Riders in The Sky.

Elvis 6363 Sunset
19 unreleased takes from 72/75. Highlights are a studio version of Cant Help Falling In Love and the 1st take of Fool.

The Nashville Marathon
In 1970 Elvis had a recording session of two weeks that covered 6 original albums That’s The Way It Is, Elvis Country, Love Letters From Elvis, and Elvis Now. This CD contains 20 alternate takes from these album’s. This historically is the first BMG release ever to have Elvis curse. Highlights are A Hundred Years From Now (Takes 1&2) Sylvia and Tomorrow Never Comes. Fantastic sound and great music. Recommended

Dixieland Rocks
One of the poorest FTD releases to date. This release is a pretty bog standard 1975 concert recorded at Middle Tennessee University, Murfreesboro May 6th. 1st release of My Boy. This is its only redeeming feature.

Spring Tours 77
This was recorded at Elvis last concert tours of 77. Being that Elvis was ill this time and these concerts were regarded as poor is it worth getting. Personally YES, I love this album. BMG have taken great performances far surpassing the material from the Elvis In Concert CD. All tracks are Fantastic. Recommended.

The Jungle Room Sessions
Fantastic. 17 alternate takes Elvis’s last 2 recording sessions are here. Highlights include Elvis mucking around during Bitter They Are, Harder They Fall and Moody Blue

Too Much Monkey Business
Unreleased Overdubbed hits by Felton Jarvis. The Guitar Man album plus songs such as Ill Be There, In The Ghetto and Kentucky Rain are featured here.

Fame and Fortune
27 Alternate takes from Nashville. Songs include It’s Now or Never and The Girl of My Best Friend.

Silver Screen Stereo
26 Alternate takes from movies. Pretty boring for an FTD release.

Tucson ‘76
Excellent if for the only LIVE version of Danny Boy EVER. All other tracks are pretty bog standard.

Elvis In a Private Moment
29 home recordings including Sweet Lelani, I Wonder I Wonder I Wonder and He. Poor quality but rare material.

Out In Hollywood
22 alternate takes of Film songs. See Silver Screen

Elvis At The International
Another 69 soundboard, nothing too different from other 69 shows. It’s a lot different, with Elvis’ monologue in its correct place instead of at the end of the disc as with the Live In Las Vegas box set. This is the first complete concert from 1969 released by BMG. The Elvis At The international CD was a compilation of several shows.

Memphis Session
A fantastic disc of 20 unreleased tracks from the From Elvis In Memphis sessions.

Studio B
23 Alternate takes from the Nashville sessions from1961-64. Fantastic sound.

Its Midnight
Recorded live at the Las Vegas Hilton 24 August 74. Features the ultra rare Early Morning Rain.

Dinner At Eight
Las Vegas ’75 Feature the ultra rare Wooden Heart And the first live version of Blue Christmas released.

Long Lonely Highway
22 songs from Nashville 60-68 17 of which are unreleased. Rarities include alternate takes of Guitar Man, Singing Tree and She’s Not You.

New Years Eve ‘76
This is the first ever for FTD for two reasons. It was the first ever-double album ever to be introduced into the series but also it is the first ever-bootleg album used by BMG. (Also first audience recording released by BMG and probably any (legal) record company) Sound is not good but for collectors reasons it’s a must. Auld Lang Sang and the ONLY live version of Rags to Riches were included into this album. The Concert was recorded at the Civic arena, Pittsburgh 1976

Dragonheart
Recorded at Notre Dame Athletic Convention Center, Southbend. Includes Okay All Right You Win as bonus track.

They CANNOT be bought at high street stores. Stockists can be found at Amazon or CD-Wow.

However I would strongly suggest the Elvis Information Network as I personally have had brilliant customer service from David Troedson. He sends me regular updates and there’s nothing too much trouble for him.

The ones listed here are all that have been release so far. They cost $47 Australian dollars, which is equivalent to £19.97 GBP with free P&P.

All items are very well packed and I have never had to return one yet.

Hope you enjoyed the read

Margaret xx
