Advantages: Intensly fast double bass pedals and insane guitar riffs and solos Disadvantages: Some of the screaming by Matt Heafy is slightly amatuer but is still very effective
The debut album by americas' hottest new metal band should definately be in everyones' record collection.

This album is metal at its best with fresh, original metal talent hard to come about these days, this debut album certainly shows that it is possible to be brilliant from the start.

Some of the best tracks on the album are: "Falling to grey" is a track where a riff worthy of solo-esque branding is used and is an excellant example of the talent that the band holds between them. "Fugue (A Revelation)" is a track where simple riffs are put together with a good fast beat and a simple bass riff its singing shows Matt and Paolo at their best with some of Matts best roaring in this song. But i feel that by far the best part of the singing is the chorus where Matt and Paolo break into melodic almost normal singing. Almost.... It soon goes back to screaming. But it happens to work very well.
If you like the guitar riffs of Metallica, want a new style of voice, even more intense solos then maiden, and a double-bass drum sound like none other, then this is the album for your record collection. No real metal fan should be without.
Advantages: Full on metal album, no track will dissapoint Disadvantages: Some of the screaming sounds slightly amateur
This debut album from the relatively new metal band 'Trivium' is definetely something to have on your cd changer. The incredible speed of the songs, and diversity of the singing, from full screaming to almost choir like harmonies is captivating.
At the time this album was made Trivium's frontman and lead vocalist Matt Heafy was only 16, maybe 17 i forget. However his songwriting skill and ability on guitar is amazing, and far beyond most of his ... ...album sound amatuer, as Matt is so young.
The introduction to the album is actually the reversal of the outro, which although sounds simple creates a great tension as the first song ('Pillars of Serpents') starts. The massive double-bass pedal use and perfect guitar solo harmonies make this album one to remember.
The album deals with child abuse, dictatorship and greed amongst other issues, which i think are best told in 'Fugue' and 'Ember to Inferno'.

Advantages: The best metal band around at the moment, Get it and get it now! Disadvantages: If you dont like metal then run away! far far away!
I first heard of Trivium through the magazine Total Guitar. Hailed as the next metalica in pounding rythym and searing solos not to mention 'all out rockability.'' Growing up in Orlando, Trivium where almost unheard of even after their 2003 release of Emberto the Inferno. It was not until the UK audience grabbed hold of this magnificent album and helped the group into much deserved worldwide stardom!
As the band name Trivium suggests (Latin for the bringing together of different styles) it formulates a mixture of both modern metal: Bullet for my valentine, Children of Bodom and Pantera. However Slayer, Metallica and Megadeath - the first real thrash metal bands - are very easy to hear in the music.
The singing is pretty much metal screaming, which, suits the style very very well. Not only this, but, Matt Heafy (the lead singer ...
Advantages: An absolute masterpiece 10/10 album everything fits perfectly Disadvantages: Perhaps more note variety could have been used
Four piece metal band from Orlando, Trivium came out with their debut album 'EmbertoInferno' when lead vocalist Matt Heafy was aged only 16. If you've heard that album and enjoyed it then you'll love every moment of 'Ascendancy'. If you haven't be prepared for an treat with possibly the best metal album ever made.
The introduction to the song is a short clean piece, which builds up using chord structures and a harmonised melody played by piano over the top which brings a sense of eager anticipation as we wait for the first track 'Rain'.
The brilliant use of palm-muted triplets and double bass pedal, combined with perfect guitar harmonies and blisteringly fast shredding, remind me of a Metallica album but with even more technical ability.
The lyrics are vastly improved from the debut album 'EmbertoInferno' as the vocalists ...
