It Won't Rain On This Parade
Review of Parade - Prince by  waynehorrigan

Advantages: Diverse styles; features "Kiss"
Disadvantages: Slightly too psychadelic in parts

...argue that he influenced Lenny Kravitz. Generally, he'll try his hand at most popular styles and given his high work rate of the 80's coupled with it's near flawless quality, it would be sacrilege to try to label this influential and unique artist. WHAT'S PARADE ALL ABOUT THEN? ----------------------------------------------------- Aside from music, Prince also fancied himself as something of a movie star. His first bash at the silver screen, in 1984, produced the egotistical and indulgent Purple Rain. It was panned by the critics, of course. Unperturbed, he had another crack in 1986 with Under The Cherry Moon. I've not seen that film, but filmed in "arty" black and white and with a seemingly unparalleled fascination with all things French, the signs aren't good. Parade is the soundtrack to this film. THE TRACKS... Read review

No rain on the 'Hit Parade.'
Review of Hit Parade - Paul Weller by  d_w86

Advantages: Fully comprehensive - Jam/Style Council included; great music; well packaged; available for bargain prices
Disadvantages: does not include the original version of 'that's entertainment.' A real shame!

...Released for the christmas market in 2006 and because Paul also won the BRIT award for outstanding contribution to British music that year, a comprehensive greates hits, including songs from the Jam and Style Council days, as well as Paul's solo career was needed. After all, the man Weller had managed a 30 year career! Universal released a single CD and a twin DVD (both also called 'Hit Parade') but in my opinion, the 4cd boxset "Hit Parade," which I am reviewing is the most superior. Firstly - if you like to be a comprehensive music fan - go for the 4 cd boxset. It is well worth the price. If you shop around, you can get hold of it for the same price as the solo CD (I did) and logic dictates, the 4 cd set is going to be more comprehensive than a single CD. The single CD is good but it contains 23 tracks, this 4 CD boxset has 64... Read review

A Soft Parade Down The Middle Of The Road
Review of Soft Parade, The - Doors (The) by  JonnyWigan

Advantages: Catchy & Poppy
Disadvantages: Catchy & Poppy!

...’ is a love song, and contains lines such as: ‘Now, I'm gonna love you Till the heavens stop the rain I'm gonna love you Till the stars fall from the sky For you and I’ There’s not a moggy on the moon’s chance that a track containing such syrupy lyrics would ever have made it onto one of the band’s previous albums. And…the song contains a sax solo!!! The Doors do Jazz? The third track, ‘Shaman’s Blues’, is, for me, the worst on the album, and hey, surprise surprise, it’s an obvious Jim song that teleports back to previous recordings. How do you know it was written by Morrison? Just look at the closing lines: ‘He's sweatin', look at him... optical promise... you'll be dead and in hell before I'm born... sure thing...bridesmaid... the only solution... Isn't it amazing?’ There then follows a quick paced... Read review
