My boyfriend and i are both fanatics (sad i know) and we eagerly anticipated the release of the latest Eminem album Encore and weren't disappointed. I found pin pointing a favourite song incredibly difficult to do i've fallen for every track on the album!
"Evil Deeds" starts the album off with a catchy beat and the usual lyrical genius we've come to expect from Mr Mathers. "Like Toy Soldiers" sees an old song revamped into a summary of the recent Ja Rule dispute, a definate favourite.
Eminem shows his political side with "Mosh", when i first heard it i thought to myself,"That's not a song that's a revolution". Although it's plain to see that Eminem is losing his hold over the public as this George Bush diss failed to prevent his re election in the US.
"Just lose it" and "Ass like that" show that Eminem still has a little Slim Shady in him with nonsense lyrics and cross the line antics. "Mockingbird" is probably my favourite on the album ( or maybe Crazy in Love or....) as Eminems sensitive side is revealed in a song to his beloved daughters. I was touched the first time i heard this song but in true Eminem style i was laughing by end.The album has two very different songs to his ex wife Kim both catchy and both hilarious.
The final song on the album "Encore" is one of many hints that this is all we're getting from Eminem, for others just flick through the lyric book. The song features Dr Dre and 50 cent and is a good end to the album.
Overall i'd say that Encore is definately upto the usual standards of Eminem and is a must have for all Shady fans. There's a song for every occasion and every mood, come on people let's make it a Shady Christmas.
