Advantages: Strong debut album, well chained together songs Disadvantages: Ends too abruptly, for some it may take some getting used to
Russian Circles are a three piece, post rock band from Chicago. And this is their debut album 'Enter' a mixture of melodic melodies and heavy riffs.
Now, even though the whole album clocks up to only six songs, you're still getting your money's worth from this album, clocking up to just over 44 min of instrumental bliss. Plus, I'll describe every single track seeing as there is only six of them.
Carpe: Begins slowly ... ...to a heavy guitar thrashing only to pull you back and forward with the volume level and speed.
Micah: More subtle but at the same keeps you on the edge; this track concentrates more on the impressive guitar picking work, with the drums and bass interfering now and again for showing off purposes.

Carpe: Begins slowly with a steady 4 note guitar pluck, but builds up to a heavy guitar thrashing only to pull you back and forward with the volume level and speed.
Micah: More subtle but at the same keeps you on the edge; this track concentrates more on the impressive guitar picking work, with the drums and bass interfering now and again for showing off purposes.
Death Rides A Horse: Starts hard and fast and continues that way all through the song, it feels like there's a speed contest going on with the bass and guitar.
Enter: Again starts with a slow build up but soon becomes something more, the rhythm section takes over from the guitar in keeping the consistency of this song up by working together in perfect unison.
You Already Did: This has a sound of consist tribal drums throughout the song, the drums take over this track with a few mad cap fills and solos.
New Macabre: And as soon as the album starts it ends all too soon. This track shows the band working as a unit, pace is strong and every one of the members has his moment. Good way to end an album, even though it was abrupt.
If you're interested in post rock, Russian Circles is a good place to begin. And if you enjoyed this album I would recommend Red Sparrows or God is an Astronaut.

Advantages: More experimental but doesn't stray too far from their first album Disadvantages: Good songs but the album structure needs to be worked on
are consistent and guitars keep changing pitch and effect and timing. This is the more ambience part of RussianCircles they seem to be experimenting with.
Youngblood: I couldn't quite put my finger on it, put this reminded me of their first album 'Enter', in some way. Again with a guitar effect picking intro before the hold band mesh in together for a free style jam. This song drives with thrashing guitar riffs and restless drums, backed with a comfortable bass, keeping pace. The song goes back and forth between instruments, each one having their moment of music solo, quiet moments and then galloping rhythm to the end, to blast out the speakers.
Xavii: A haunting song from the start with a single bass chord and slow and steady guitar picking with the drums gradually coming in to provided the background. Whining chord slides sum ...
