Its like Vai or Satriani playing death metal!
Review of Epitaph - Necrophagist by mastodonathon

Advantages: Ridiculously technical riffs! a must for any guitarist or musician!
Disadvantages: overely complicated!

...the song. Rating: 10/10 Epitaph (4.17)-The album is named after this song so you'd think it would be a very good song yes? Well I can tell you you'd be right in thinking so! This is another supreme effort from the band, it has a slightly epic sound at intervals betweens the fierce guitar and growling violence! The solo on this track is really cool with both guitars inter-twining to create that brillaint sound that the band have. Rating:9/10 Only ...
...maybe the greatest death metal song conjured by man? This track has one hell of an intro a bass solo followed by 100mph guitar solo wich leads into one of the best riffs I've heard in a while! This track is the track you want to listen to if you want to see this band at their best! It combines their best riff's with some of the best solo's and has some very catchy growling parts. Rating:10/10 Seven (3.43)-This starts with another slower but extremely ... Read review

brilliant album, must listen
Review of Epitaph - Necrophagist by jimmijamie

Advantages: musicianship beyond belief; brilliant songs
Disadvantages: death growl not to all's taste

...full-length debut 'Onset of Putrefaction.'. Epitaph was released in 2004, with a different line up and after signing to relapse records. Suicmez composed and played all the parts in the debut album and most in Epitaph. Song by song review: 1. Stab wound Not wanting to start off lightly, this song starts with a drum fill intro before hitting hard with some lightning fast guitars, before having a brief sweep picked solo (for those non musicians ...
...quickly on all strings of a guitar). The speed at which the drums and guitars are played is unbelievable, which will be evident throughout this album, even in slowed down songs. A truly magnificent and highly technical song. 10/10 2. The stillborn one After the brutal introduction the next song is very slowed down with many pinch harmonics played in a repeating riff through the intro into the verse. It starts off as quite a boring song for the ... Read review

Epitaph - Necrophagist
Review of Epitaph - Necrophagist by samithedood

Advantages: awesome guitar work, bass and production
Disadvantages: Vocal Ability is average

My absolute favourite album at the moment, this really is an album for the musicians among you quite complex with alot of odd timings but never sounding out of place, If i had to describe this album to someone i would explain it as the heaviest baddest version of iron maiden you will ever hear with dual riffing harmonies apparent all over this masterpiece. The production of this album is also really good for a death/progreesive album, probably the ...
...drummer was used for this album also the lyrical theme has changed from gore to more interesting subjects. I really don't have a favourite song on the album it is all killer no filler but the opening riff of seven is certainly the most unique and memorable riff i've ever heard. ... Read review
