Advantages: Good showcase for Christine Collister's talents Disadvantages: none
...This album is a marvellous showcase for Christine Collister's unique molasses-rich voice. Not all the tracks are of the highest quality, but when she flies she flies high. Her own compositions, Waiting for My Prayer and the title track are beautifully executed. Other highlights include Sarah Mclachlan's Full of Grace, a stunning version of Motherless Child and an interesting take on Henry Mancini/Johnny Mercer's Moon River.
At other times she sounds like Alison Moyet or Cher on Stars in thier Eyes, but there can be no doubting the musicianship on this album. Mention should also be made of John Surman's tenor sax and Martin Lister who is responsible for programming and keyboards.
A pleasant album, An Equal Love is at its best when Collister is singing roots and jazz, but please stay off the Euro-pop....

Advantages: Her voice, her love for beautiful words. Disadvantages: ...Not commercial enough?!!
...Hello everyone, I haven't been around for a while and I don't have much time to write but I thought it would be a good idea for me to introduce this wonderful French singer to you. I guess you mostly know her as Johnny Depp's girlfriend and mother of this children, but she is very much more than that, she's a real artist. So if you're curious to know her a little more, I'll do my best to present this album which is, I think, her best live show and there are a lot of songs from all different periods of her carreer.
**********WHO IS SHE?**********
Vanessa Paradis was born in 1972 in France. She started to sing in 1987 (yes, 20 years ago!!) and her biggest hit of that year was "Joe le Taxi". She worked with Lenny Kravitz, Serge Gainsbourg (I hope you know him because he was an amazing singer and song writer...) and more recently...

Advantages: The guitar riffs are fantastic and stir your soul. Disadvantages: A couple of the tracks on the album are a little repetitive
...The opening riffs, drum beats and sequences of chords of many of the tracks on this album really stir the soul and satisfy you if goth pop rock is what you are looking for.
It is a progression from Dead Letters which really well demonstrates the bands skill.
Three tracks that particularly catch the attention are Shot, Don't Let Go, Lucifer's Angel and Dead Promises, though all the tracks have differing qualities which make them stand out from the rest.
The lyrics are well suited with no unneccessary throat grinding shouting that many such band employ.
It really hits the spot. I love this album. If you liked Dead Letters you'll definitly like this! I wasn't sure to begin with, only 3-4 tracks really caught my attention, but now I love it all. I listen to it whatever mood I'm in....
