Advantages: The guitar, the melodies, the sound, the songs (the backing-singer!) Disadvantages: That M Ward - gotta bit of a croaky voice... you might not like it
...releasing one song? We could have Jenny Don’t Be Hasty, Wonderful World, etc, and then skip the part where you start making videos where you sit in a grey room looking intensely at a wall for three minutes while it rains or something else depressing. But yes, I’ll move away from the rant, we all know this kind of music is hardly what’s going to save the acoustic guitar, which is starting to look like the sappiest instrument of all time (and against strong competition like mandolin, too!)
Thing is, the singer/songwriter hordes have a point; the acoustic is the best instrument for spilling your pain, but they miss the fact that it helps to actually have a mastery of the thing before you start crying in the studio. You have to have some sort of ability to play the guitar in an exciting, challenging, or intriguing way before it can become...

Advantages: Mostly addictive Disadvantages: Some very poor songs
...It's a bit of a mixed bag this one, but then so was the first album. Known for flipping out under prying noses, Yorke is one of rock's last remaining great myths. He has no intention of following the release of The Eraser with more solo work, and he absolutely resents the accusation that tension within the quintet forced him to explore his own musical horizons.
So a side project it is, hardly the greatest way to publicise what your audience is going to be shelling out their hard earned cash for, but Yorke could care less about album sales. Radiohead have been without a record label since 2004 and The Eraser finds itself being distributed via a small-time independent label, XL. It's a bemusing move given...
