Garner was virtuosic without being too flashy, and evoked gorgeous sentiment without becoming lachrymose. His eccentric two-handed approach was not particularly influential, but it was wildly popular. Garner loved to put his own stamp on standards, but he was also a handy writer, composing the well-known hit "Misty." That track is included in these recordings, made between 1950 and 1957 with several different trio lineups, including the group with Eddie Calhoun on bass and Denzil Best on drums that recorded the popular 1956 live recordingConcert by the Sea.--John Swenson
Advantages: I FANCY great tracks like DANGEROUSLY IN LOVE that give me a HAPPY FACE. Disadvantages: Loads of filler tracks. Beyonce is a NASTY GIRL when she is a producer.
...disaster and diverts my attention away from Destiny's Childs subject matter. It is so hideous, it is indescrible even for a detailed reviewer like me, but ironically it saves me from actually hearing Beyonce's terrible lyrics. Kelly and Michelle's voices are completely masked by Beyonce's forced vocal delivery and squalid ballad-like production.
I would rather get slapped in the face and booted up the butt*cks by an angry women with BROWN EYES than listen to this track in general.
Rating: 1/10

Advantages: Every Track Is A Winner! Disadvantages: None!
...provided the enhancing gospel-like vocals along with Ulland McCullough and Raymond Simpson. The multi-talented Valerie Simpson is also credited for playing those gentle piano backdrops on each track. Jamming away on that pounding percussion are Sammy Figueros and Errol Bennet whilst working hard away on those pulsating basslines are Anthony Jackson and Francisco Centeno. John Sussewell provides those pattering drum beats where as Michael Bealer plays the gorgeous saxophone interludes through each track which reaches full effect on the ballad, Sparkle.
Berry Gordy deliberately did little to promote this album in retaliation to Ross' refusal to let him have anything to do with the project but The Boss went onto become a big hit regardless. Diana Ross was back bigger and better never having looked or sounded so great. One of the jewels in her...
