"This is the album that is the most like me I know it's a gamble but I have faith. If you want to be a success in anything, you have to take that big step." Enrique said this of his newest album ‘Escape’, if this album is most like Enrique then Enrique is smooth, sultry, sexy and soulful (enough of the s words already I hear you shout). As many will agree this description is not far wrong.
Enrique Iglesias Preysler was born May the eighth 1975 to the legend that is Julio Iglesias, and has grown up to be every inch the superstar if not more than his father was. Escape is Enrique’s second English speaking album released November 2001, and contains the top ten tracks “escape” and “hero”.
~~ESCAPE~~ Released may 2002 this track is an upbeat romantic track, in the video of which we see Enrique and Anna Kournikova trying to have sex in as many places as possible – an interesting concept! It is currently available as a single and is one of the livelier tracks on the album. A great taster at the start of the album of what is to come. ~~Perfect use of track: slow dance at the school disco

~~DON’T TURN OF THE LIGHTS~~ Despite the opening chords sounds scarily like hero this is a great track. Apart from the rather scary use of the lyrics “ei ei a” (I’m sure there’s a deep and meaningful explanation), Enrique’s general aim is to ask you surprisingly enough to not turn off the lights. This is a quick moving though slightly repetitive track a real toe taper as they say. ~~Perfect use of track: err an energy saving conference? (Come-on that was a hard one) ~~
~~LOVE TO SEE YOU CRY~~ Don’t be fooled by the slightly evil sounding title of the track this is fast moving with a distinct Spanish sound underneath making a very catch tune although there is a very annoying panting girl in the background, I think its supposed to make it sound sexy, hmmm!.
~~ HERO~~ This trademark sexy Ballard, is Enrique at his most seductive, this track has an incredible sensual feeling, and sounds as though Enrique is pleading directly to you, perfect for all the girls. The video for this track sees Jennifer love Hewitt cradling a dying Enrique in the rain (wet t-shirts at there best – swoon!) ~~Perfect use for track: this is said to be currently the most requested track for the couples first dance at their wedding, so wedding it is.
~~I WILL SURVIVE~~ No not the classic liberated girls classic, this track has a strong music backing, with strong vocals provided by Enrique. This is not a happy romantic song but an I don’t need you anymore stylee song. ~~Perfect use of track: getting over him locked in your bedroom! ~~
~~LOVE FOR FUN~~ Not a particularly good track a bit to ‘pop’ for Enrique, not the soulful Enrique we love. ~~ Perfect use of track: don’t use it at all! ~~
~~MAYBE~~ With the lyrics “ If I had one single wish I’d go back to the moment I kissed” this ones a bit to westlifey for me, though does have a good piano backing. ~~Perfect use of track: playing to your boy band crazed younger cousin/niece/stalker.~~
~~ONE NIGHT STAND~~ This is an upbeat tune about a one night stand with a girl jenny, way to catchy for my liking as I find myself wandering round the house repeating the words one night stand- not the best of images. ~~Perfect use of track: can’t think at the moment, any suggestions welcome though!
~~SHE BE THE ONE~~ A very dancey track, more spoken than sung though more streetwise than other track with a some what cocky sounding Enrique telling you “you know your gonna get some” tuttut!. Also Enrique uses the timeless phrase she be the bomb, which personally I cant stand, so as you may have guessed this is not my favourite of tracks. ~~Perfect use of song: a great getting ready for a big night out song, one to really put you in the party mood. ~~
~~ IF THE WORLD CRASHES DOWN~~ An Enrique at his most well known, a romantic, cant imagine my life without you type song. Though not a very good plea as it’s a bit over the top and makes you want to shut him up. Great choir like backing vocals though redeem him making this a bearable tune.
~~ESCAPAR~~ ~~NO ASAGUES LA LUZ ~~ ~~ HEROE~~ Spanish versions of escape don’t turn out the lights and hero, the Spanish makes them seem even more romantic, there something about Spanish and Italian that makes us girls melt!
There is also a bonus track of a hero mix, just encase the two versions already aren’t enough! This is a great album although some of the tracks are a bit samey Enrique’s Latin lover vocals seem to make up for that. The inlay has a variety of sultry pictures of enrigue though no lyrics. I bought the album for £9.99 at cd wow which is the cheapest price ive seen. I would recommend this album to any girl with a soft spot for the smooth Spanish accent of Enrique and any blokes with a big date coming up, the perfect music to romance by!

traditionalist in the mould of his dad. OnEscape, even his up-tempo, lust-driven tunes such as "Love 4 Fun" and "One Night Stand" are hardly the frantic sweat-fests...
