"TheChaosEngine" is a game from the legendary Bitmap Brothers. Those of you who are either too young or too old will not remember this game being released for the Commodore Amiga in 1993 amid a wave of hype due to classic groundbreaking games such as Xenon and Speedball 2.
The Plot

As with the majority of the games of its time the plot was merely secondary to the gameplay. "TheChaosEngine" is a machine, which has taken on a life of its own, and using its ability to transform space and time has created a cloud of "chaos" deforming humanity into mutants and savages. Amid this post-apocalyptic land a band of mercenaries are hired to track down and destroy "TheChaosEngine".

Well here we go again with some more old school gaming.
This game was made my The Bitmap Brothers, the people behind the classic Speedball series of games, along with others. It was first released on the Amiga and the 16bit consoles, this version was released shortly afterwards, in 1993, and doesn't offer anything new over the Amiga version.
This is a action game in the style of Gauntlet and Alien Breed, in the respect that you view the action from above and you shoot a lot of things with big guns!
But this does seem to have more depth than Gauntlet.
The story goes that some scientist has caused a bit of a problem by sending a computer into the past, this computer then turned against its maker and wants to kill everything on the planet!
Typical, computers are such bad things, I would never use ...

The ChaosEngine is a similar game to Gauntlet, a top down, maze based, shoot-em-up, except it looks much nicer and is viewed from a slightly lower angle. You can choose from six characters who you want to be, some are all-rounders, others have rubbish guns but are good on skill and strength, and some have brilliant special weapons. It is a two player game, but if you're on your own the computer will be the other player.
Each level is littered with a lots of different power-ups, money, and
enemies; the giant hands on World 3 are particuarly good. Each world has got 4 levels, and after every two levels you go to a shop where you can convert your money into experience, and improve your weapons capabilities.
