Review of Susana Baca - Susana Baca by
waynehorrigan
Advantages: Different, intriguing, virtually pan pipe free
Disadvantages: Maudlin and sombre
.... A bit faster than the previous tracks and you can see the change in Susana's voice. She's less whispery and maudlin and her voice shimmers with confidence and sheer joy as her backing singers join in singing the title track. Her accent and pronunciation remain both alien and captivating to me. A joy and one for my i-Pod (if I owned one).
Mark: 5/5

Shit! Duck! It's a pan pipe intro. Luckily they disappear as quickly as they arrive becausethe track is largely acapella with a little bit of bass to add volume. Her voice goes back to being mournful but she hits some low notes quite impressively on this song. Near the end, some percussion rattles in and Baca goes from deep voiced chanteuse to some quite thrilling falsetto notes as she sings the title.
Mark: 3/5

Still slow-paced, I find...

Piece of Garbage
Review of Cheers - Obie Trice by
bigdiship-hop
Advantages: Some Decent Tracks, Some Decent Production, Eminem Appearances
Disadvantages: Filler, Awful Subject Matter, overrated lyricism, Mainly uninspired production, cliche, uncreative
...the hype is real, This is no joke, I don't smoke, But I toke enough secondhand to make my f*cking P.O. choke, I'm an OG, your f*cking with a G.I. Joe, Bia Bia, mia vivo a vida loco, I'm pyscho, Mariah ain't got sh*t on me, When I retire I'll be spittin baby food on people, A tent siged on her ranch huddle up next to her, with Hello Kitty slippers on, humpin her legs, You ever had your cap peeled back or your sh*t pushed in, I put my blade in you like a f*ckin pin cushion.
"Spread Yo Sh*t" kicks off exactly the same way that the Obie Trice skit from Devil's Night kicks off, with DJ 7-Deuce, and i wish that this song was that good. Obie's uninspired...
