We first approached St Louis at twilight and were immediately charmed by the unusual skylight dominated by The Gateway Arch which was bathed in a warm amber glow. We had driven down from Chicago along Route 66 and were pretty tired so we has little time or energy to explore ? St Louis would have to wait until daylight. ~~What?s in a name~~ First faux-pas of our trip! My pronunciation of St Louis was as in the title of the Judy Garland film and song. Wrong! A local born and bred in St Louis soon corrected me. The English pronunciation is lu-is. Lu-ee is the French pronunciation little used within the city. St Louis is named after King Louis IX of France ? the only French king that was made into a saint. The city was founded by French explorers, Louis Joliet and Jacques Marquette in 1673. JORDAN - A Tourist's overview

Advantages: Wonderful country, with fantastic scenery and history
Disadvantages: Dangerous at present time (Jan '06)

It is a real shame that at present, due to the on-going troubles in the Middle Eastern region, that Jordan is now listed by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the British Government as suffering from a high risk and threat of terrorism, which has lead to the closure of the British embassy in the capital Amman. I write a review though as a point of interest and with the hope that if things change in the Middle East, tourists from the West will once again feel safe and secure to visit this remarkably historic country. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Background ~~~~~~~~~~~ I visited The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, as it is officially known, prior to the 9/11 atrocities in June 2001, on a Pan-European trip of approximately 50 tourists from the UK, The Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy. Louis Armstrong

Advantages: The one and only
Disadvantages: none

I love reggae music, especially Bob Marley, but if I am honest I also like a bit of Jazz, not any old Jazz though, when I say Jazz I mean Louis Armstrong.
