I like to listen to 'Tangled up in Blue' maybe drink half a cup of iced bovril then shuffle it all about and go backwards to track 4 - 'You Ain't Going Nowhere' maybe stand outside a bit or go into another county and watch an old windmill spinning, let it all digest, then get a taster of his religious material with 'you Gotta Serve Somebody', put something savoury under the grill with tomatoes on the top while I wonder why 'Man Gave Names To All The Animals' isn't included - because there wasn't enough room, a voice echoes back to me out of the thermos flask, have a change and flip disc 1 on & listen to all those early singles from the 1960's Top of The Pops - 'come gather round people wherever you roam...how many times must a white dove fly...to be on your own like a rolling stone...' I like to glue up a jiffy bag, fill it with sand and email it to Bowie, I like to take the tracks 2 or 3 at a time, I like to listen to his debut album from which a track isn't hereabouts included. This really is essential stuff. You just know you'll have to investigate the tracks in context one day.
