Advantages: something you will keep coming back to

...Air's moon safari is one of those albums that I had heard was good but which i held off buying until last year, due to the fact that it is not the genre of music i am in to. I bought it in the end as it was on special offer, and it is one of those albums that I keep coming back to and putting on. For me, the standout tracks are the first 3 on the album. Sexy Boy is probably their best known song due to its release as a single, but just as good as that are All I Need and La Femme d'argent - two brilliant chillout songs which are often on adverts or TV programmes. These, along with the rest of the album, are perfect to relax to. La femme is a 7 minutes instrumental, whereas All I Need has some great lyrics on top of the soothing music. These songs, along with greats such as Kelly Watch the Stars make this an essential purchase, and Air... Read review

The best chillout album in the world
Review of New York Global Underground - Oakenfold, Paul by goofy

Advantages: Simply the best chillout album around
Disadvantages: None

...I bought the Oakenfold's New York mix after hearing it in a friends car. Since then, I've gone Oaky mad! I've got most of his cd's ranging from essential selection, perfecto fluoro to more recent ones such as Travelling and Another World. You see a number of chillout albums that have been released over the last few months, the Ministry of Sound and Ibiza chillout albums etc etc... but the I still rate the New York mix as the best chillout album I've heard. I personally think that the first cd is truly amazing and really relaxing. I have friends that don't even like dance music and even they just love the cd. However, after listening to the first cd, I've found that certain people have been a little disappointed with second one. I've found that people that are not really into Oaky's style of mixing tend to criticise it more. You... Read review

Brilliant Christmas Album of classic Aimee

Advantages: Great interpretations of classic Christmas songs
Disadvantages: Only one original Aimee composition

...While you couldn't really class this as a proper follow-up to The Forgotten Arm, Aimee fans certainly won't be disappointed. Since buying this in March, I've been listening to it quite regularly, even though Christmas won't be round for quite some time still. It's testament to the arrangements here that you listen to Christmas songs that don't sound like Christmas songs. The effect is nothing more than spine-tingling, especially on "I'll Be Home For Christmas" and "White Christmas": Aimee Mann chillout, with an absolute earful of originality in her interpretation and orchestration. With just one original song from Aimee here, "Calling On Mary", you'd think that it's hardly worth laying down good money for what is, essentially, a cover album, but you'd be wrong. It's the most upbeat track of them all, but still very chilled out by Aimee... Read review
