...I am not a religious man (far from it) and am no follower of gospel music but having come across the blid boys of alabamas Spirit of the Century album I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. THere is no doubt that this is another fine album full of wonderful vocals. As with Spirit of the century the blind boys have been teamed up with another great set of backing musicians, although I must admit i do miss Danny Thompsons excellent bass playing which was an outstanding feature of the previous album. There is a good range of songs on this album which show up the beauty of the singing and playing. Even if like me you would never normall consider a gospel album this is well worth buying and if you have never heard spirit of the century you MUST get that album tha treally is essential listening U GOTTA LOVE IT... ...Repeating the formula of Low's half-vocal/half-instrumental structure, Heroes develops and strengthens the sonic innovations Bowie and Eno explored on their first collaboration. The vocal songs are fuller, boasting harder rhythms and deeper layers of sound. Much of the harder-edged sound of Heroes is due to Robert Fripp's guitar, which provides a muscular foundation for the electronics, especially on the relatively conventional rock songs. Similarly, the instrumentals on Heroes are more detailed, this time showing a more explicit debt to German synth-pop and European experimental rock & roll. Essentially, the difference between Low and Heroes lies in the details, but the record is equally challenging and groundbreaking. Advantages: Valhalla - absolutely the best song on this album and worth all the money
Disadvantages: some weaker songs "Hall of the King", "Damned for all Time"

...me?" The last track of the album is of a funny nature: Blind Guardian did a cover of the Beach Boys "Barbara Anne"!!! They had some guest singers for that track and it's always fun to see people's reaction when they listen to that tune for the first time! As the fans loved this song it still ends every Blind Guardian concert with a great party, the fans jumping and dancing and singing along "Barbara Anne"... The cover was done by Waay Design who also did the cover for the debut and shows the dark guardian, who appeared on most of the following releases, for the first time. Though there are way better album by Blind Guardian "Follow the Blind" is still a good album compared with other band's works.... Read review
