This is the only Rod Stewart cd that i own. All of his best songs are here. I particularly wanted the track = Rhythm of my heart, as its been a favourite of mine for a long time. Having listened to both cd,s i find myself liking everything about it. I bought it used from ebay and at a very reasonable price, especially for a double cd. As he now seems to be singing the old crooner type of songs i don,t expect to be buying any more, definately not my thing, even though i love his voice, i really dont like the " sinatra " stuff. The days of " Maggie May " when he was a bit of a rocker, is much more my thing. he says = Do you think i,m sexy. well in my opinion yes, yes , yes. like a lot of singers he gets better with age. If you are looking for a good rounded selection of Rod,s best song,s , then you need look no further. ...

Rod Stewart Semi-Plugged, The Sublime To The Banal

You Back to the rubbish. See tracks 1 and 2. Track 10: Tom Traubert's Blues Good pub style R&B. Track 11: The First Cut Is The Deepest If you don't know this song, I want to know what you're doing on my planet. I'm not sure of my favourite version but this is good enough to bring a tear. Track 12: Mandolin Wind Seminal 70's beanbags on the floor track. Meant to be done in this format. Track 13: Highgate Shuffle Another pub rocker. Well worth a listen. Track 14: Stay With Me Mid period Rod Stewart. Anthemic and requires one to be moderately pissed. Ok, but should be fully plugged for best effect. Rod's Mod Again

Advantages: Stunning, both musically and vocally

Ladies and gentlemen, please put aside your prejudices before reading this opinion. In the seventies, Rod Stewart was a superb r&b singer who collaborated with some greats and wrote great melodies and lyrics ('You Wear it Well', 'Maggie May', 'Mandolin Wind' to name but three)and sang them with pure, raw emotion. In the eighties, he was an embarrassment to us all, dabbling in disco and electro-pop and dressing like a complete idiot, not to mention those fright wigs (at least I hope they were wigs).
