I cant remember a word that you were saying
Are we demented ?
Or am I disturbed ? …..”
Holiday
This, to be the second single, is by far the greatest thing on the album. In fact, yesterday whilst listening to the album in my room (destroying my speakers), my dad came up and pointed out that ‘they sound like The Levellers’ ….. could anyone fill me in on who they may happen to be please. Levellers or not, this is Green Day at their best, the 1,2,1,2 punch of the drums, along with Billie Joe on what I would class as his finest form, gives me my greatest moment from the album, taking me back to Minority, Warning etc, in delivering irresistible hooks that put all modern bands well and truly in their place.

Advantages: - Disadvantages: rush release maybe hurts overall feel of the album
...I beg to differ on the contrary
I agree with every word that you say
Talk is cheap and lies are expensive

Not my favourite release from...

Advantages: Some fantastic songs that benefitted from a live atmosphere. Disadvantages: Some tracks didn't work vocally, a little Beatle bias.
...they both lacked a certain magic, I would say that it was mainly due to Paul's vocals becoming strained, mainly because of how long he has been in the music business for. The synthesizers on 'Eleanor Rigby' worked in a live atmosphere but I do prefer the traditional sound of the string instruments. The pace to 'Here, There and Everywhere' didn't work particularly well on a CD format; it seemed to lack its simple but amazing depth of the original recording. And the accordion sound just didn't work - it's a beautiful, tender song that doesn't need anything else in my opinion than the voices and a guitar. A real let down for me personally on this album.
However, where McCartney's vocals may have been lacking on some of the songs, thankfully, it wasn't the case for all of them. 'Maybe I'm Amazed', from his early solo days, and 'The Long...
