Advantages: A good primer into process metaphysics. Disadvantages: Not for the casual reader.
Before beginning my review of 'Process Metaphysics: An Introduction to Process Philosophy' by Nicholas Rescher, a brief note of explanation is in order, about what Process Theology is, who Whitehead is, and what my interest in it is.
Let us start with personalities. Alfred North Whitehead was a teacher and mathematician. A protege of Bertrand Russell, he participated in the creation of Russell's great 'Principia Mathematica'. In 1924, at the age of 63, he became a Harvard professor (at the time most people would be thinking about retirement). Most of his purely philosophical work was done later in his life. There has been a growing pressure to identify ME/CFS as ...
Advantages: Phenomenal film on the band and WALL OF DEATH Disadvantages: Short live show featured as an extra, not that good.
Having been a worshipper of Mark Hunter and the lads for nearly a year now, I felt it my duty as a fan to dig into my pocket and purchase the DVD.
The first thing that surprised me when I got it home was the fact that there was no live show featured on the main menu. 'No live show?!' I cried. 'What have I bought?!' Well...
The DVD centres around 'The Dehumanizing Process', a feature length movie following the band during the writing, recording and touring stages of their second album 'The Impossibility of Reason' (which I may add is also worth buying). It begins with the band rehearsing several weeks before they hit the studio, and continues to focus around the following weeks and several tours, combining some great interviews with some truly phenomenal live footage (metal moses and the wall of death will stay in your mind ...
