Advantages: Good, punky rock n' roll, fun lyrics, and a little variety in style to break things up. Disadvantages: Not much here for metallers of many stripes. A love of Motorhead almost essential for enjoyment.

Yee-haw! This is a shockingly good album. The title really tells you all you need to know about the style of music within. It’s full-tilt punk rawk with just a hint of country. (Believe it or not, this works really well in the mix.) Imagine a fistfight between AC/DC and Motorhead at a Willie Nelson concert in Arkansas, ... ...in ability they more than make up for in atitood, and when wrapped around great songs like "My Kickass Life", "Cool Manchu", "I Want The Drugs", and the glorious title track, it’s an irresistibly tongue-in-cheek package. This isn;t rock n' roll as teenage rebellion, this is rock n' roll as a valid lifestyle choice.
That said, I wouldn’t recommend this package to anyone who doesn’t bring their sense of humor to their CD collection. ...

...am now reviewing - "The Evil Powers of Rock N Roll".
The album kicks off with its title track, starting with a short intro before the full force of the awesome 4-some that is the supersuckers kicks in. The catchy riffs played by one guitarist keep flowing thru this first song whilst the other one proceeds to attack into this rythmic beauty with amazing solos and countermelodies. Whilst all this playful excitement is going on the driving bass line ... ...experience are "cool manchu", "the evil powers.." and "stuff and nonsense" although every song is amazing in itself.
I would certainly recommend this album to anyone who likes both the modern punk artists like lagwagon, nofx and zero down as well as more "old skool" rock groups like thin lizzy, zz top, rainbow etc. ...

Advantages: Great Punk Rock and Roll Disadvantages: Uped the stakes considerably
...the line " I got Evil blood, and a twisted mind" has gotta be good. This one definitley proves the rule. This was their 1st release after leaving Sub Pop and what a record it was. Effectivley recorded live in the studio, and as a result ther is an urgency to the songs that you loose whith multitracking. Each song is dripping in rock and roll attitude and their influences are obvious from the Ramones to Thin Lizzy stopping off in the Arizona desert ... ...is stunning in it's simplicity and they stick very closley to the how to do a great rock and roll record formula. Which is pounding drums, simple but effective bass playing and two guitars all being played as if the lives of the players depended upon it, on top of this raw vocals and lyrics sung from experience.
The album is effectivley a concept album, but not in an elves, wizzards and fairies sense that was so prevelant from 70's progressive rock. ...

...Supersuckers: The Greatest Rockn’ Roll Band In The World
This “best of” album covers the early part of the Supersuckers career. This, possibly more than last years “EvilPowers of Rockn’ Roll” is a good jumping-on point to this most idiosyncratic of bands. This collection is drawn primarily from their first five albums released on Sub Pop, a label more renowned for its grunge output in the early 90’s. Along with tracks from these albums, this collection also contains rare b-sides and other hard-to-find tracks.
It starts off solidly, with a collection of hard-rocking tunes garnered from their first three albums “The Smoke of Hell”, “La Mano Cornuda” and “Sacreligious”. These tunes all follow a similar basic blueprint; breakneck guitars, pounding drums...

Album Reviews: Q (3/00, p.110) - 3 stars out of 5 - \"...there's something undeniably virtuous about their straight-ahead, hyper-charged honest-to-goodness rock'n'roll tunes....old-fashioned anthems aimed at putting a smile on the face. Not evil, then, but good.\"
