Advantages: New Material Disadvantages: Best of, is it to make money?
This is the first offering from MatchboxTwenty since 2002's release "More than you think you are". This album is in essence a greatesthits, although it does have 6 new tracks on. This makes it a must have for all Matchbox fans. There are also the older tracks for the people who are new to Matchbox and i feel there may be after the success of Rob Thomas's solo efforts. The new songs are in the same vein as older tracks with the lead single "How far we've come", which i see at a little attack on certain governments. The other tracks are also good with a mixture of pop and melodic songs. "These hard times" is my personal favourite, which has some good vocal ranges for Robs voice and some thought provoking lyrics. The rest of the album is a mixture of the three old albums, "Yourself or someone like you", "Madseason" and "More than you ...
Advantages: It's raw, it's real and it provides great insight into the band Disadvantages: Grainy dvd, short running time.
of their biggest hits in the form of an intimate live acoustic session. VH1 Storytellers allows these artists to share details of their inspiration for their songs which sometime mirror memories and experiences of the artists themselves. It gives the viewer / listener a greater understanding of what's behind the music and what makes the band or solo artist tick.

Advantages: Beautiful scenery, great music and a nice story Disadvantages: Some may dislike the lack of a concrete story
The Exiles (Exils) directed by Tony Gatlif is my current must-see film and a visual and sensual feast that I found compelling and memorable. The film is beautiful and brightly coloured so that the viewer is left with an impression of fun and freedom and made me want to set off instantly on my own trip, a feeling that didn't pass 5 minutes after I finished watching it.
Exiles is essentially a road movie and as such it deals with the common themes of a desire for individual freedom and the, often conflicting, desire to belong somewhere. The film begins in Paris with a couple Zano and Naima who spontaneously decide to leave and go to Algeria where their families were originally from. As they have no money they variously walk, hitchhike or scam lifts and so begins an unusual journey where the couple encounter many people but often ...

The title of Matchbox Twenty's best-of collection, EXILE ON MAINSTREAM, seems to be an acknowledgement, ironic or not, of the band's entrenched status as kings of commercial pop-rock. As the 11 mega-hits compiled here prove, though, the band has a right to be proud. The disc plays like a trip down the main drag of radio-friendly alt rock in the 1990s, with such ubiquitous classics as "Push," "3 a.m.," and "Real World" included. But the real treat is the EP that comes with the package. These six songs represent the first new Matchbox Twenty material in the five years since 2002's MORE THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE was released, and find the band more energized, focused, and compelling than at any point in their career. Produced by super-producer Steve Lilywhite, the EXILE EP is a polished stream of well-constructed modern rock with an adult contemporary slant, matching the highlights on the best-of disc for catchy hooks and melodic songcraft. Taken together, the discs offer a perfect summation of the band's past and present glories.
