This album is a classic collectors piece for anybody interested in the origins and development of dance music today. Whilst I am a bit fan of the Prodigy, I think this, their first album, really does tell of the music scene as it was in the very early 1990s. The cheesy rave lyrics, poorly sampled and stretched, are interesting to listen to just to wonder how these songs were ever really seen as vaguely 'cool'. As an album of its time it was nothing special, except if you accept the argument that it contains the song said to have 'killed' the rave scene: Charly. An unremarkable piece in itself, Charly involved a sampling of a public information video and was said to have triggered the beginning of the 'cheesy rave' era. Yet having listened to the other tracks on the CD, you should be in no doubt that Charly was not the worst offender. While I quite enjoy the Experience, it is definitely an album to be taken at face value: an average but in retrospect rather humorous expose of the dying days of rave, made slightly more interesting by the success that the Prodigy were later to achieve.

I love this album simply because it is so crap and badly produced. This album makes me smile too much which it an element missing from a lot of techno these days. People like '2 bad mice' and whoever did Edge no.1 did this kind of thing better but they still have the same kind of naieve sound that makes you smile like a loon.
