of the Kinks' classic period. From here on, Kinks' records would become more than collections of songs, they'd become coherent frames whose material added up to a complete perspective. This record arguably presents the birth of the "concept album." And in the subcategory of records vying for first concept album (pre-Tommy, of course), such asS.F. Sorrowby the Pretty Things,Face to Faceis easily the most rewarding. All of Ray Davies's themes are represented: materialism among the English upper class ("House in the Country", "Most Exclusive Residence For Sale"), depression ("Too Much On My Mind") and nostalgia ("I'll Remember"). But these themes always lead Davies to penetrating, timeless songs of resignation and so it is here ("Sunny Afternoon"). This is mandatory listening for any fan of popular music from the 1960s.--Gene Booth

Westlifes Album number 7 brought out in 31 October 2006 which reached number 1.
I got this album as a christmas present and as i am a massive westlife fan i absolutly loved it. Its a bit defferent from westlifes other albums as its not as many of ballads as the rest. FacetoFace became the boybands fifth uk number one album in over seven years.
Below i will go throu all the songs on the album and review each of them for you.
"You Raise Me Up" 4:02
This is a beautful song, a slow meaning ful song with a brilliant choras. You can really hear the true voice of shane, who sings it so perfect.

Advantages: Good songs, Good lyrics for all the songs Disadvantages: None
I have liked Westife since they first started in 1998. When they were supporting act for Boyzone on their world tour in 1998. I have had their latest album for a christmas present from my fiancee. I have sat and listened to this album and I think this album is brilliant.
* The songs*
1) You raise me up ( 4 mins 3 secs) This was a number 1 hit for the boys. This song is not a lively song, but it is a very powerful song. One of the lines is `You raise me up so I can stand a mountian, you raise me up so I can walk on stormy seas.' To people who listen to music alot or for the older generation or for anyone they are phenomenally strong lyrics for this song.
2) When you tell me that you love me ( 3 mins 58 secs). This song is with Diana Ross who is a great singer. This was a number 2 hit for the boys. This song is powerful song ...

Album Notes
The Kinks: Dave Davies (vocals, guitar); Ray Davies (vocals); Peter Quaife (bass); Mick Avory (drums). Recorded between 1965 and 1967. Includes original liner notes by Frank Smyth and Peter Doggett. The album that ushered in a new era of Ray Davies' songwriting, 1966's FACE TO FACE finds Davies penning, for the first time, a series of vignettes in the style that would become a staple for the rest of his career. Songs such as "Dandy" (a hit for Herman's Hermits), with its concise portrait of a '60s swinger, are a world away from the raucous rock of early hits like "You Really Got Me." The folky, Indian-influenced "Fancy," which may or may not be a self-portrait, and "Rosie Won't You Please Come Home" (actually written about the Davies brothers' sister) are timeless, precisely crafted sketches, beyond musical fad or fashion, that still resound today. Musically, some serious thought is apparent in the arrangements of songs such as "Too Much on My Mind," and much of the album is conclusive evidence that the rest of the Kinks, in particular guitarist Dave Davies and drummer Mick Avory, were the perfect foil for Davies' songwriting skills. Though the only bona-fide Kinks hit here is the breezy, sardonic "Sunny Afternoon," FACE TO FACE is a seminal Kinks album for its overarching vision and for displaying the first serious manifestations of Ray Davies' burgeoning songwriting talent.
