Advantages: Light, upbeat music. Disadvantages: One track that almost destroys the mood set by the rest of the album.
John Mayer- Room for Squares
This album is beautiful. The slow easy going songs give you a warm feeling in side, as do the gently uplifting songs. I personally use it as background music when im doing something else, although it easily stands up to being listened to with all your attention.
My personal favourites when i first listened to it were No Such Thing and Why Georgia, but as i garnered a taste for him, i can honestly say that i frequently listen to the whole album instead of going to individual songs like i usually do with CDs.
The only song that it really took me a while to get to like was St. Patricks Day. The slow melody and downbeat tempo seemed at total odds with the rest of the album, and it seemed like an odd thing to include in an otherwise excellent album. However, although it is not my favourite song, I ...
Advantages: Great Debut album from one of the best singer/songwriters Disadvantages: Not for the depressed

~~~~~
JohnPrine is a singer songwriter who has released almost 20 albums in the last 35 years, although he has never achieved widespread commercial appeal, this is his debut album recorded in 1971. I have listened to almost all of his albums but think he never quite recaptured the brilliance of this self titled debut. Some of these songs have been covered many times over the years by a wide variety of artists, songs about drug abuse, strippers, growing old, anti war songs and even an early environmental song 'Paradise'. The music itself is mostly country in flavour, although I don't think you could really call this a country album there are shades of folk and rock throughout the record. The Music is never overstated which helps to convey the brilliant lyrics in almost every song. Johns plain gravelly ...
Advantages: Good location, good standard, clean and pleasant Disadvantages: A bit anonymous
designed and very welcoming. As with so much in Scandinavia care is put into the design and there are many nice touches around the entranceway and in the lobby. Without going over the top there are several nice touches in and around the reception area which deserve a quick stroll around.
Facilities ~
The Square has two meeting rooms, each capable of holding 20 people and offering modern A/V equipment and wireless internet access.
Many room tariffs are on a bed and breakfast basis and the mainly cold buffet breakfast is served in the 6th floor restaurant. This was a fairly standard offering with the usual selection of bread, cereals, fruit and cold meats. Everything looked fresh and was well presented and even if it hadn't been included in the room rate the £10 charge represents excellent value in this most expensive of cities. The room ...
Album Notes
Personnel include: John Prine (vocals, acoustic guitar); Dan Tyminski, Alison Krauss, Mindy Smith (vocals); Dan Dugmore (steel guitar); Phil Parlapiano (accordion); Dave Jacques (bass guitar); Paul Griffith (drums); Kenny Malone (percussion); Jerry Douglas. FAIR & SQUARE's release was highly anticipated by John Prine fans, as the veteran singer/songwriter hadn't recorded an album of new songs in 10 years (the preceding IN SPITE OF OURSELVES was mostly cover tunes). Happily for both Prine and his contingent, FAIR & SQUARE represents that most coveted of phenomena, the Return to Form. Though 1995's LOST DOGS & MIXED BLESSINGS was not without its virtues, some tracks were marred by overproduction. Here, though, the arrangements are scaled back down to Prine's comfort zone, appropriately rootsy to accommodate both the down-home amiability of his tone and the endlessly intriguing twists and turns of his unique lyrical style. While he's not untouched by contemporary events (references to the White House and the war in Iraq crop up), most of the tunes here are the sort of classic Prine material that made the songwriter a cult hero in the '70s. Equally important, the likes of "Crazy as a Loon" and "Some Humans Ain't Human" show that he still has his unique knack for making penetrating observations while maintaining his trademark wry humor.
