Pastiche, the imitation of a literary or musical style for (generally) comic purposes, can be a wonderful thing. The songs of Tom Lehrer and the musical The Boyfriend spring to mind as great examples. Unfortunately, not all pastiche is good pastiche, and 'A Saint She Ain't' certainly ain't good pastiche. Written in a style reminiscent of film musicals of the 1940s and accompanied by piano (possibly two pianos, judging from the sound of the overture), the show features thirteen different songs which echo the list songs, novelty numbers and lovestruck duets remembered fondly from so many Hollywood singalongs. But it's not much fun, when it comes down to it. Music is by Denis King, lyrics by Dick Vosburgh and the cast of eight features Barry Cryer and Gavin Lee (who went on to create the stage version of Bert in Mary Poppins ...

Review of Saint She Ain't, A - Various Artists

The Dead House: Suspenseful.

Advantages: Good storyline, believable characters.
Disadvantages: Unbelievable at one or two points.

Written by Anne Cassidy. 264 pages. Rating: Young adult and older. Written in third person. Can be bought new on Amazon.co.uk for £4.49, and new and used for £2+ on Ebay.co.uk. I've been a fan of Anne Cassidy's work since I first started reading her books from the Point Crime series. So when I saw this in the library I picked it up and stuck it to the top of my very long, need to finish soon 'to read' pile. The Dead House is about Lauren, ten years ago her mother and baby sister were killed by her father. She is now seventeen years old and has just recently moved back to London, now living a short distance away from her childhood home and her father has spent the last ten years in prison, but when new evidence appears that could prove his innocence. Faced with the startling fact that he could receive a not guilty verdict ...

Advantages: Suitable For All RNB LOVERS. Puts You In a Dancing Mood.
Disadvantages: Quite Exspensive.

Kiss Presents R&B Classics - Various Artists Wow what a brillant c.d. Doesnt look all great from the front cover of the c.d but once you pop the c.d into the cd player it sureley does get you in the mood for dancing.. Its not all sad love songs its got the ones that wil make you want to get up and dance the night away. Defenitly the right c.d to listen to when you are going out on a girley night out or maybe even a girley night in with a couple of drinks. Although most people dont really buy c.ds no more as you can download them off the internet for free you wil get the better quality off the c.d instead of a really bad copy of the songs. I Would Reccomend this to anyone well you defenitly have to be a rnb person if you are not then just have a listen i dont know what you would not like about this music its fantastic! ...
