house music. This CD represents a landmark in the history of the kissdafunk brand, as it is their first CD and therefore represents a milestone in the development of the club. The CD ---------- The music itself consists of a mix of vocal, funky and electro house music, which is typical of the style of music played at kissdafunk. Generally speaking, CD One, mixed by Rob Tissera is more funky house, while CD Two is more electro dominated. The thing I really like about this CD is that many of the tunes are less commercial, but well known to genuine clubbers. Far too many dance music CDs today, consist of the same songs in a different order. Take Ministry of Sound CDs such as "Clubbers Guide" and "Funky House Sessions." Many of them contain the same overplayed, commerical tracks, such as "Fedde Le Grand - Hands up for Detroit ...

Scarface (Music inspired by the movie) - Various Artists

Advantages: A few scarface film samples
Disadvantages: Nearly the whole thing

of drug references and average rhymes 10 Crack Commandments - Notorious BIG. A song taken from BIGs Life After Death, probably the worst song on that and this album. Its just a list relating to drug deals making reference to the line, never get high on your own supply. Poor production that im sure has been used since Mr Scarface - Scarface. Ok i take it back this is the worst one. Originally released in 91 so its dated beats dont mix well with the up to date rap Streets Is Watching - Jay Z. Taken from Jay Z's In My Lifetime album. Good intelligent raps, street warfare and feuds discussed here. Not his best track but not bad Dopeman - NWA.A 1989 release added here and classic beats along with the old rap supergroup. Hed Kandi: The Mix 2009

Advantages: If you want a very generic mix CD this could be for you.
Disadvantages: Many tracks are either remixes of commerical hits, or at least 4 years old.

Having long been a fan of the Hed Kandi brand, and of funky house music I decided to reluctantly purchase 'The Mix 2009'. My reluctance came from reading the tracklisting on the back of the Album - Shakedown 'At Night', X-Press 2 'Lazy' Afro Medusa 'Pasilda' and others are all relatively old tracks. If the theme of this album had been similar to the Hed Kandi classics CD in 2006 it would be understandable - but this edition professed to be 'The Mix 2009'. On previous outings the main two CD's always featured the biggest tracks of the year and nothing else - a sort of House Music annual. The 'Chill-out/Wind-Down' themed third CD each time had previously been the only disc to feature 'classic house'. The Mix 2009 certainly isn't and if a general overview of 2009 in house music is what you're after then perhaps it would be better to look ...
