Advantages: Heartwarming Irish novel, well-written Disadvantages: Second half rather disappointing
Big FatLoveis an Irish novel in a territory familiar to fans of Maeve Binchy and Roddy Doyle. And it's almost ( but not quite) as good as either of these more famous Irish writers .
Author Peter Sheridan has written plays and memoirs and this book, published by Pan in 2003, was his first novel.
It revolves around the larger-than-life Philo, victim of a wifebeating drunk of a husband, struggling to feed five kids, and coping with a serious weight problem.
At an all-time low, and penniless, she abandons her children to an orphanage, leaves her alcoholic husband and knocks on the door of a Dublin convent seeking help.
Swearing and smoking like a trooper, she charms the nuns into giving her somewhere to stay - and begins to turn her life around.

Advantages: Very well written Disadvantages: Cannot think of any
Single mum, Sally Freeman, wants a better life for herself and her son, Charlie. She lives on a run down estate, in a tenement block, in Liverpool and has dreams of living a better life. Her ex-Johnny is like a father to her son (even although he is not Charlie's father), but unfortunately this was not enough to keep Sally and Johnny together. Sally always thought that Johnny had no ambition and his lack of ambition helped to push them apart.
In reality, Johnny had dreams of being a painter, but had not told Sally as he did not think that he was good enough. The only person he told was Charlie, who decided that, unbeknown to Johnny, he would do something about it because he believed in Johnny.
Sally, meanwhile, was doing a computer course to contribute to her better life. She begins to go out with the teacher, Spencer, who is ...
Advantages: Couple of songs that are classic Slipknot Disadvantages: Gradually more mainstream as the album progresses
Feedback on this album is very varied. On some websites the fans are saying its only slightly better than Subliminal Verses and other say its their best since Slipknot (i think all slipknot fans agree their first album was best). In my opinion, this album will grow on you if you give it time.
Slipknot have gone a little softer on this album especially in terms of vocals so first time you listen to it you think "this is crap this isnt slipknot" with the exception of Psychosocial and Gemetria, which just so happen to be two of the best tracks on the album but thats not the point.
Probably the best feature of this album is there is a hell of a lot of tracks, so i can promise you there will be at least one song you love. For this reason im gonna reccomend it to other people, but mainly to new slipknot fans.
