The latest album released by the Prodigy (I believe) sees them move into a more mainstream mode. Of course everybody has heard Firestarter and Breathe (and Smack my Bitch up), so you should already have your opinions made up about them, but what about the rest of the tracks? In my opinion, the singles (except SMBU, which I hated) were probably better than most of the other pieces on this record, so if you’re expecting a consistently high standard you might be disappointed. On the other hand, it’s a passably good album, although nothing really stands out to make it excellent. Possibly my favourite track on the whole thing is the cover of L7’s Fuel my Fire, which includes Republica’s Saffron on backing vocals, although it’s damning praise indeed to say you prefer a cover to the band’s own stuff. If you really like the Prodigy, I recommend buying this. Also, if you liked Breathe or Firestarter, you’ll probably be interested too, although I doubt there’s really enough here to keep your interest for that long.
