What no one has reviewed Fat of the land by Prodigy yet!!l I am about to rectify that.
Prodigy Started playing in the early 1990’s and produced “The fat of the land” in 1997.T he style of Fat of the land is quite varied, a bit techno a bit dance a bit rock. There are 10 tracks on this Album. The first Track is smack my bitch up. A good steady techno beat ,lots of rhythm little tune. The words Smack my bitch up are repeated at intervals through the Album there are some wailing vocals. This track certainly gets the adrenalin flowing the beat coursing throughout the listener’s body.
Breathe is the next track starting with some guitar, “Breathe with me exhale exhale” says the vocals this is not an uplifting tune. It has a continuous thumping beat, Yes I am gently nodding my head in time.
Diesel Power next track. This is again full of rhythm continuous beat. There are more words on this track. To be honest not so keen on this track its ok but not so good ass some of the other tracks.
Funky S*** the rhythm of this track changes a bit, hip hop and rave, a few weird sounds and the vocals Oh my god that’s a funky S***
Serial thrilla next track. A heavier rock track with synth in the background. Still a good insistent beat. Listening to this I want to get up and jump around.
Mindfields next. This track starts with a single beat that is added too. “This is dangerous I walk through minefields and watch your head rock”. A more thoughtful track less brash. A slightly slower pace. This is a track that makes you listen.
Naryan next. “If you believe the western sun is falling down on everyone” This track has a continuous beat through it and some piano, some squelchy noises. My foot isn’t tapping ,my head not bopping to this one so much . The beat does not make my body move.
Fire starter, My attention is all there with the beginning of this track, “hey hey hey" My body moving, my senses alert I’m a firestarter, twisted fire starter you’re the firestarter twisted firestarter,” lots of energy flows with this track. Its aggressive its demanding, lots of emotion. I must have heard this track many times my senses seem to know what notes will be played next.
Climbatise This track has a solid bass line ,but my body is still on a high after firestarter needs to calm down a little before I can listen to this next track properly. This track is an instrumental . Once I get into it I know I am listening to the direction the notes are taking me. A heavy beat bit then a calmer piece.
Fuel my fire. This track starts of with a heavy beat, there are more vocals on this track. I am not so keen on this track seems a bit lost. There is still the beat but it does not grab me so much I think this is a weak way to end this album I prefer to be left on a high
. The thing that makes this Album stand out is its beat really it is continuous and it gets your body molecules moving. Although the tracks styles are slightly different they are blend ed together ,and are classic Prodigy. I like this Album. Thank you for listening with me . . .
