Fatlip Showbox - Shark Soup

Advantages: Classic John Lennon tracks for the 70's
Disadvantages: Too dated for some

...Many, many, many years ago my husband asked for a particular cassette as a birthday present. I trotted of to the music store and could only remember that it was by John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band and was called something like Shark Fin Soup. The tuned in and turned on assistant knew exactly what I wanted , 'Shaved Fish', a compilation of tracks by John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band. I never have quite understood were I got the shark fin soup from but there you go. Hubby always loved this cassette so, as the years moved on and CD'S appeared, he bought the CD version and it is still favourite play for both of us. It is very much of it's time but I still think it is an interesting play with some unusual tracks. Give peace a chance. Advantages: Hit after Hit
Disadvantages: BFS not very dominent over in the UK

...I am a big fan of bowling for soup so this may cloud my judgement a little bit but this is a great album with funny and mature songs that although may refer to inconsequential issues but don’t seem trivial as they do on their new record. This is one of their three golden albums as I like to call them! This includes many god songs in fact I would go as far as saying hit after hit of great songs that stayed in my favourites playlist for quite a while. Bowling for soup are a classic punk rock band that deserve to be up with the greats and unfortunately over here its just not the case as their record label; JIVE is not very prosperous over here. I think that if only they put in the graft in promotion they would thrive; with songs like this anyone would love them: 1.: I Don't Wanna Rock -2/5 stars compared to other tracks on CD -2/5 stars... Advantages: occasional good song
Disadvantages: loses sight of what bowling for soup i about

...Now ordinarily I am a huge fan of bowling for soup and loved all of their other albums such as “hangover you don’t deserve” and “Drunk enough to dance” but frankly this was a disappointment to me; I had been looking forward to their new album coming out and was let down considerably. For anyone who doesn’t know bowling for soup are an old school sort of band that create punk rock songs featuring mainly around as one of the song titles suggests “High School Never Ends” and for these big rock stars I don’t think it ever has done!! Their songs seem to revolve around such topics such as not calling girlfriends back. These used to be all quiet mature matters (within school anyway!) seeming to appeal to me more as I am in the top end of the school system but I think with the introduction of “High School Musical” they have started to gravitate...
