Advantages: Some Excellent powerful songs Disadvantages: Some songs that I don't understand
...it is by far my favourite classical track as it is so powerful in the way the music is played. If you only listen to one classical track in your life I would recommend this one, you will not be disappointed.

The first thing you may feel about this is that its classical music and only for old people, but hey I’m only 22 and I like classical music.
This CD that I am reviewing is “Favourite Movie Classics”, to tell you the truth I got this CD for 1 song, I seem to do that quite a lot, the Level 42 CD I got and reviewed I only bought for a couple of songs, but I found that I have grown to like more of the songs over time.
As the name might give away this is a CD that contains classical music from different movies that you might or might not of heard and thought “I like that song”.
Track 1: The Ride of the Valkyries – Wagner From Apocalypse Now and Excalibur This is the whole reason that I bought this CD for as it is by far my favourite classical track as it is so powerful in the way the music is played. If you only listen to one classical track in your life I would recommend this one, you will not be disappointed.
Track 2: Adagio for Strings – Barber From Platoon and The Elephant Man This is a very moving, but sombre track. This is also an excellent piece of music that gives across a feeling of complete sadness and could bring people to tears I would imagine.
Track 3: Un’Aura Amorosa from Cosi Fan Tutte – Mozart From My Left Foot This is an opera track that to me seems to be bringing across a feeling of achievement and accomplishment, as I cannot understand the lyrics I can’t make out what it is really trying to say.
Track 4: The Blue Danube, Waltz OP.314 – Johann Strauss II From 2001 – A Space Odyseey This is a well known song for a well known film by a well known composer, this song bring across a feeling of grace as in the film it is used, if I remember correctly, when the ship is docking.
Track 5: Song to the Moon from Rusalka - Dvorak From Driving miss Dasy This track is another opera which I cant understand, it has a sombre feel but nothing like Adagio for Strings’ one.
Track 6: Dan cog the hours from La Gioconda – Ponchielli From Fantasia The start of this song bring across the feeling of something sneaking around then it goes on like something big has happened and it speeds up and gets more thunderous as the song gets to the end.
Track 7: Adagio from Clarinet Concerto in A, K622 – Mozart From Out of Africa This song also brings across a feeling of loss or something bad has happened as it is slow paced. Track 8: The Thieving Magpie Overtune – Rossini From A Clockwork Orange This song it like its name suggests as its starts off slow, like the magpie is sneaking around and is looking for stuff then it gets very powerful like he has been spotted and is being chased.
Track 9: O Mio Babbino Caro from Gianni Schicchi – Puccini From A room With A View This is another opera, I cant actually place this song or what it is trying to get across. What ever it is trying to show it is a strong one.
Track 10: Adagietto from Symphony NO.5 – Mahler From Death in Venice This is yet another sad song that at the start is extremely quiet and it only gets a bit louder during the end, but it never changes the sombre feeling it gives.
Track: 11 Minuet – Boccherini From The Lady Killers This song you could easily sit down to dinner and listen to this as it is a very easy song to listen to that is not giving off to much power so it can be enjoyed by anyone, it has a slight uplifted tone to it.
Track 12: Warsaw Concerto – Addinsell From Dangerous Moonlight This song goes straight in with power and aggression Then it calms down to a more relaxed feeling then back up to the powerful aggression, finally an abrupt finish.
I may have put that the songs are from these films, but they were not written for them and were written a while before them, I should have put used in not from. I have put what they feel like to me but to you they might feel different. But it is what classical music does, it makes you feel. And is what classical music is all about.

The movie, The Edge of Reason, based on the book by Helen Fielding came out in 2004. It's a good movie but in my opinion not really a classic although it does have some funny elements. However, some of my favourite parts of the movie were actually the music used in it and as such I decided to buy the soundtrack after it came out. I love movie soundtrakcs becasue they feature a number of different artists so you get a wide variety of different sounds which is great. Plus, this album includes some of the best artists in the world. Also, whenever I listen to it it always reminds me of different parts in the movie which I like. I bought this bos set of 5 CDs from Asda for Ł5, what a bargain. I'm not usually a classical music fan, but it is great as backbround music for the class of children I teach, plus provides lots of inspiration for Art and Drama.
The set contains 5 CDs. The first is classicalfavourites, most people will know a few from this disk which has 16 tracks. The 2nd disk is Classical Chillout and is all music that is fairly slow, soft and relaxing. This also has 16 tracks. The 3rd disk is Opera favourites, 16 of them. The 4th has only 11 tracks of Romantic classics, and the 5th has 16 tracks again titled tracks from the movies. I was very surprised to see music such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings on this album!
