This was especially true in the late 1960s when, influenced by Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement, her interpretation of numbers such as the title track, "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" and "Ne Me Quitte Pas", reflected the black American's experience. As did the self-penned "Mississippi Goddam" and her cover of "Strange Fruit", with which she is the only one who can compare with Billie Holiday's. Elsewhere in this collection, she is more playful but just as stunning with George Harrison's "Here Comes the Sun", the Bee Gees' "To Love Somebody" and "Ain't Got No (I Got Life)". Not to mention, the classic Simone numbers "My Baby Just Cares" and "Love Me Or Leave Me". To be honest, I bought this CD unintentionally. One night in 2006, at a local music store in Seoul, South Korea, I was looking for a legendary Jacques Brel's song called Ne Me Quitte Pas (Do Not Leave Me) when I saw this CD.
I knew some songs of Nina before, such as Feeling Good, My Baby Just Cares for Me, and Mississipi Goddam, but I didn't know at the time that Nina sings Ne Me Quitta Pas too.

Without any doubt, I bought this CD along with other Nina's: The Very Best of Nina Simone the Colpix Years (2 CDs/ EMI).
It happens a lot that I need to buy someone's album it's only because I love to hear one certain song of his/her. It's happened to me regarding to Nina Simone. I've decided bought her album because of the remarkable poetry song, Ne Me Quitte Pas which wrote (and first performed) by Jacques Brel.
However, since then I've known Nina Simone better, and then I became familiar with her other songs.

Ne Me Quitte Pas was wrote and first performed by Jacques Brel, a French poet-singer. The song itself has a kind of powerful poetry structure; it has well-written rhyme and the metaphors were very strong. I never shame and will never embarrass to confess that I often cry every time I listen the song (no matter by Jacques or Nina).

NinaSimone is one of those musical artists whoes voice is instantly recognisable. This album, 'TheVeryBest Of NinaSimone' is a solid, well organised CV of her musical achievements. She is one of those artists who, until you recieve an album like this, you forget had so many brilliant songs.
The three tracks that leap off the 20 long song list for me are arguably three of the best American soul tracks ever. Firstly, of course, the magical 'FeelingGood' - a song that cannot be ignored. It is a pure soul track, a song that moulds the listener into a somber but content mood to begin with, then has them up on their feet singing as load as they can by the end.
