Advantages: Pure listening pleasure for Gerry Marsden fans. Disadvantages: The only disadvantage is the Cilla Black track
...This is a must for Gerry and The Pacemakers fans.
Pure listening pleasure. Gerry Marsden, the lead singer was in the sixties and is still a fantastic vocalist, he can have you up off your seat dancing with 'Shot of Rythm and Blues' and 'Jambalaya' and then completely slow down the mood with classic tracks such as 'FerryCross the Mersey' and 'You'll Never Walk Alone' the ultimate football anthem (especially if you, like I am a fanatical Liverpool fan)
There are 26 tracks to listen to both upbeat and slow I could not find any fault with this DVD except perhaps for the fact that two tracks did not feature Gerry but one featured the Fourmost, which was quite good but the other track Cilla Black, well it depends on your point of view but for me this track ruins the whole thing, (no offence Cilla) but you were at your best on Blind...

Advantages: The sound of metal being thwacked Disadvantages: Some naff stuff
...’, Gerry And The Pacemakers’ Mersey anthem from the 60’s ‘FerryCross The Mersey’ and the peerless ‘War’ by Edwin Starr.
The decision to pour themselves all over four sides of vinyl in a misguided attempt to offer value for money just led to them spreading themselves too thinly and diluting the massive Frankie mystique that little bit too much.
They struggled to follow up the massive success of the album, although they did later issue a very poor follow up in 1986 called Liverpool before fading from public view in a series of legal wrangles. Johnson later re-emerged with a couple of solo hits but the age of Frankie Goes To Hollywood had passed.
Okay, life story over, let’s turn our attention to the album itself.
Inconsistent is the word that springs instantly to the forefront of your consciousness when you check out the record...

Advantages: Many unreleased curiosities, some great songs Disadvantages: A bit 'serious' and like a documentary, some pretty bad songs
...worth a listen if you’re at all interested in their story. "How do you do it" is so awful that I actually don’t mind it. The Beatles really didn’t want to record it, so it was probably a deliberate attempt to make it sound bad, so that the song would be handed to someone else - Gerry and the Pacemakers, of course.
To be honest, I hardly ever listen to Disc 1.
Disc 2 is altogether a different matter, though – I play this one far more often. It includes atmospheric live recordings, such as "She loves you", and "Twist and shout" from the Royal Command Performance (including John’s request of those in the royal box to "rattle your jewellery"), and "All my loving" from the historic Ed Sullivan show, starting it all for the Beatles in the US.
Versions of all the hits ("From me to you", "I want to hold your...
