INTRODUCTION
Well, I had to write a review on the band i can't stop listening to and am at the moment. I purchased the album saturday last in Woolworth's so was lucky after a good search. This particular band are from America. I first came across them on myspace music. After a listen to some of their tracks on their i couldn't wait to get the album. Panic at the disco's a fever you can't sweat out is so Easy to listen to and catchy.
They are from Las Vegas Nevada. When you listen to the album this does show. In one word a cabaret type feel to many of the tracks. You can certainly imagine them playing in a glitzy vegas hotel. You wouldn't think this for an any indie band but let me explain.
According to their page they are rock/indie/techno now this does show in many tracks. They have been signed by record company Fueled by Ramen decaydance. And what a find this company had. The record label is under indie and i guess you get mostly that feel.
Before i go on about each track, etc. i would like to point out these guys are very busy with a first tour. I am going to see them at leeds festival woo hoo can't wait. They are fully sold out in the USA. But tickets are still available here reading festival is another venue. Plus three dates in London worth checking out.
So who do we have for this new genre band Brendon Urie-multi-talented to say the least he is Vocals, Guitar, Keyboard, Piano, Accordion, Organ. Ryan Ross-Guitar, Lyrics, Keyboard, Piano, Accordian, Organ. Brent Wilson-Bass and lastly Spencer Smith - Drums and percussion. They are all rather young under
twenty but don't let that put you off. They are fresh and different and that added Trumpets, cello and violin on tracks does give it the vegas feel.
TRACKS
1~ Introduction to start with sounds bit like a radio being tuned in. With some slightly strange other noises and a small introduction of them themselves.
2~ The Only Difference Between Martyrdom And Suicide Is Press Coverage.
Straight from the intro comes this very catchy track on looking through the Lyrics you do realise its rather short. But this is where the techno side finds its way in mid track. Vocals are very easy to sing to and right from the start you get attached to Bredons fabulous voice.
3~London Beckoned Songs About Money Written By Machines
A much longer song from the guys this time with far more lyrics. about their quick shot to fame i can gather from the lyrics. they started off by the web and sampling tracks there before being signed. Again a very catchy chorus, nice beat in the background as well.
4~Nails For breakfast, Tacks For Snacks
Starts off very eighties bit of play on vocals also makes this track different from the rest. Play around with vocals on this one think cher when she had digital voice changes. This is used in this track. Its not overly used though. Nice cymbals beat in the background and some brilliant guitaring. Makes it a very listenable track.
5~Camisado
Nice piano start track is much more rocky than the previous tracks. Shows how versatile the band are rather short track lyric wise. But still listenable, i do have to point out its my most disliked on the album. But it still blends very well mid album.
6~Time To Dance
Nice intro to the track, much more the indie side to the band shows here. A fast paced track compared to others again not that long the lyrics to most tracks are short. Nice beat in the background vocal play shows in one part of the track. Defiantly a song to sing along to though and brendon's vocals fit well with the music.
7~Lying Is The Most fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off.
I know strange title and rather longer. Very listenable song one F word so advisable kiddie ear covering. chorus is catchy and you are soon singing it. Music and guitaring are excellent in this track. One of my more favourite songs. again brendons voice really hold the songs together.
8~Intermission
I love this and its a nice break in-between songs. this part shows just how talented they really are. they pull this off well and shows their musical talent. Piano is spectacular and reminds you actually of a masked ball half way through. Think labyrinth the film with david Bowie that sort of masked ball. along with a techno side at the start. You would have to listen to it to understand how truly excellent it is.
9~But Its Better If You Do
A fantastic track one of the ones that made me buy the album after listening on myspace. Of course i shall leave the link very short lyric wise. Piano's come more into play now after the intermission. Brendons voice really comes into its own this part of the album. Music is more beats to it accordion's make it rather good to. Its hard to say if you would call it indie or not. but i would say even if this is not your type of music this you would like.
10~I Write Sins Not Tragedies
Their most famous song so far very short lyrics, it kicks in straight after the previous song and blends like a dream. One you will be singing for a long time to come. cross between indie/rock. Brendon's voice is fantastic and flawless. Nice mix of drums and pianos and guitaring. One not to be missed.
11~I Constantly Thank God For Esteban
Nice piano background starts rather slow. then up beats more after the first verse. More lyrics to this track good mix between slow singing to faster for the chorus. guitaring is nice blends well with the piano. You can see in this track how brendon is so versatile with his voice.
12~There's A Good Reason these Tables are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't thought Of It Yet.
This track is why i think they could be in a vegas posh hotel. Very cabaret with trumpets, violins, cellos, Pianos its such a good mix. You can picture it white suits trumpets going canes, etc. This track is one of my favourite musically they really use all they have. And knowing they come from Las Vegas was probably the influence behind it music wise. It really is worth a listen again what can i say about brendon Flawless.
13~Build God, Then We'll Talk
The longest lyrically. A nice end to the album, But i do find this more of a dark indie to dark rock. Still very listenable and fits with the rest well. I have to say not one of my favourites but its all down to personal taste. You do get that feeling after you want more. That in my opinion makes it a good album.
WHERE CAN I BUY IT
Well, i got the last one in my local Woolworth's. I paid £9 i thought was well worth its money. I always have it on at the mo so money well spent. Amazon and Play.com do it cheaper around £7 - £8 so shop around for the best deal.
MY OVERALL OPINION
i Love the band and considering they are all around 18-19 what talent they have. I am seeing them live at Leeds festival and can't wait. they are currently fully sold out in america. They are busy touring a massive tour at that. they have Reading festival as well. Their are also two london dates. these are shown on their myspace page to which i will leave the link. On their page you can listen to four tracks from the album so go see. This reviewer gives the Album a 10/10 for originality and talent.

Advantages: Panic at the Disco have in their career released an excellent album. Disadvantages: An extremely lacklustre offering, the vocals lack life and the melodies are tedious.
