Advantages: One of those albums that puts a smile on your face when you listen to it Disadvantages: Probably for fans of country, alt-country, bluegrass and roots only
...Once in a while you come across an artist who just seems to offer that extra 'something' - whether it's a distinctive voice, edgy guitars, inspired arrangements or quirky lyrics, you know you've found somebody worth listening to, even if there's a few raw edges or they're not particularly 'trendy'. Back in the summer of 2007, a young Canadian fiddle player called Kendel Carson (note the correct spelling of her first name, Ciao - couldn't find the album searching under her real name!) brought out an amazing double CD as a debut release - "Rearview Mirror Tears". Whilst it will never win awards for originality or even possibly exceptional musical expertise, I found it did several things extremely well - Kendel's enthusiasm, coupled with an almost refreshing naviety in some of the performances, sat well with other tracks that made me think...

...This is a compilation of songs from various of the unplugged series of concerts. It is a solid collection and makes for pleasant, balanced listening. The lenny kravitz version of are you gonna go my way ios understated and very bluesy, the paul simon version of graceland is just like off the album, but one of the greats is elton john’s don’t let the sun go down on me – he really milks it and does it really well! The later numbers are solid (mccartney, john mellencamp) and the songs by lennox and 10,000 maniacs and rem to close are solid – a good cd....

Con air is all about a military man called Cameron Poe from Alabama who uses self defence when he is attacked by two men and unfortunately kills one of them. The main charcter is played by Nicolas Cage. After he kills the man he is sentenced to 7 years in prison for manslaughter, usually the charge would have been less than 3 years but becuse he is a military man he gets more years. It then zooms forward to about one week before his release date, in which he is going to get a plane back...
