Album Notes: Cedar Walton leads his strong quartet through a rich, enjoyable set of originals and covers, recorded in 1977 live at Copenhagen's Club Montmartre. The powerful quartet is conceptually middle of the road but nonetheless hard-driving. FIRST SET is a fine recording--the piano sounds excellent, the audience is felt but not heard, and the mix is full and warm.

...I’ve loved the Piano Quartet since first hearing it on R3. Written at Oxford as a teenager it is an astounding (and humbling) creation, which betrays its creators years if you can mentally re-score sections, such as the opening of the last movement, for a rock band – those pounding chords and short motifs are heavy-metal rifs for piano and strings! The ‘rock’ turns into ragtime at the end – not sure if that’s progress but it’s definitely fun! The rest of the disc will not disappoint – except for the teenager’s complaint (mine!) that it’s not loud enough!...

Advantages: One the great bands of the era Disadvantages: sounding a little dated
...Recent release from the underground late sixties band Family. This double boxed set features the band's first two albums lovingly presented with an inner booklet featuring photos, pictures and news articles from the period. Music in a Doll's House encapsulates a similiar wacky production and arrangements to The Beatles Sgt Peppers album but delivered in a more aggressive rock style. Opening with 'The Chase' (just imagine the hounds at the heals of the fox) and featuring classic Family tracks such as 'Me My Friend' and the soaring Chappo vocals on 'Peace of Mind' this album although sounding dated never fails to please. The second album Entertainment contains the Family classic 'The Weavers Answer'. Although less aggressive than the first album this cd gels together more but nevertheless offers a diverse mix of musical styles. A box set...

Samhain has been called all types of music ranging from punk , goth , metal , speed metal , death rock , and the old favorite that still cracks me up is devil music .
Samhain picks up where The Misfits left off . Glenn stopped playing with The Misfits back in 1983 and in 1984
Samhain made its debut with it`s first lp titled Initium .
Initium starts out with the self title track narrated by Glenn himself that sounds like it was recorded during a wind storm .
Initium does contain The Misfits hit song Horror Business .
Unlike the previous band , Samhain mostly played their set covered in blood . Samhain`s music is more dark than The Misfits music ever was .
Samhain is more of a macabre band over The Misfits .
