The overwhelming response from nearly all parents was to buy a V Tech FirstSteps Baby Walker. I've got to say I was a little bit dubious, especially as my firstborn had one (14 years ago) and it was little more than a dust-catcher. It certainly wasn't played with.
However, fast forward fourteen years and the V Tech walker has changed - hasn't everything?

Advantages: great for walking and standing Disadvantages: can run away on wodden floor
Absoluty love this as does my daughter!! I decided to buy her this walker over other "sit in" wakers through advice of my health visitor who advised that the sit in ones could lead to children tip toe walking and for genral safety she discourged the sit in ones.
This walker was easy to set up and go. I love the way the front panel comes off and baby can use it seperatly too. She loves the music thtas with it and i often find her imitating the sounds!
when i bought this my daughter was around nine moths old and just learning to stand on her own and this helped her to start pulling up and taking those firststeps. now shes fully walking and still plays with this pushing it like a trolley around the house.
only thing i found was it ran away with her in the beginning on our wodden floor so would let her play with it only on carpet ...

Album Notes
The Small Faces: Rod Stewart (vocals, banjo); Ron Wood (guitar, harmonica, bass); Ronnie Lane (guitar, bass); Ian McLagan (piano, organ); Kenney Jones (drums). The Small Faces offer a rare example of a band that underwent significant changes in personnel and musical focus yet succeeded in both incarnations. Founding singer/guitarist Steve Marriott left the band in 1969 to start Humble Pie. His replacements were a singer and a guitarist--in the individual persons of Rod Stewart and Ron Wood. The band continued as The Faces, their first outing retaining the "Small" adjective for the sake of continuity. Where the original Small Faces had been a quintessential British mod band, the reconfigured group instantly emerged as a boozy party band. FIRST STEP perfectly captures this new direction. All five members contribute to the songwriting in various capacities. The only outside material on the album is Bob Dylan's "Wicked Messenger," which slithers out of the gates with dirty slide guitar, sexy organ, and thundering drums. The Faces went onto enjoy the stateside success that had eluded their earlier incarnation. But Stewart's burgeoning solo career relegated the band to the shadows, and The Faces eventually dissolved.
