Advantages: That yellow jumpsuit and a superb soundtrack Disadvantages: Blood, death, mindless violence, spurting arteries and flying limbs.
It?s entirely my own fault.
I hate bloodshed and screen violence, and I have no interest in martial arts, Samurai fighting or Japanese manga and anime traditions.
Yet ? it was a night out with friends and I didn?t want to poop the party so I went with the flow and took my seat for the most anticipated movie of the year ? Kill Bill Volume 1. Kill Bill is of course the fourth film to be written and directed by cinema?s one true maverick, Quentin Tarantino. I list Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown in my top ten films of all time, and although the violent aspects of the trailers had worried me, I was looking forward to enjoying those touches that only Tarantino has the balls to pull off.
The opening moments didn?t disappoint. Nancy Sinatra singing ?Bang Bang (He Shot me Down)? over the opening titles would have sent shivers down ...
Dear Bill and Ben
Although I'm not a great fan of rodents, you were a cute pair of guinea-pigs and I did grow to love you in a strange sort of way.
I felt so sorry for you both when we took you in. My sister-in-law said that her children weren't interested in you anymore and she asked if we wanted you two. We thought it would be good for our, then, two year old to get used to having animals around.
I suppose we did go a bit overboard, we bought a shed (£99) for you to live in as winter was approaching and I didn't want you freezing in a drafty hutch. It was a nice shed wasn't it Bill and Ben? I put curtains up at the windows and made sure that you could see outside from the safety of your hutch.
You led a comfortable life with plenty of attention, maybe a bit too much attention. Me and Rebecca gave you weekly baths in ...
Advantages: A Classic British Sit-Com Disadvantages: Series 1 is good, but not as great as the other 7 that followed
, the programme focuses mainly on the woman of the household, Bill Porter (Belinda Lang), who (for series 1 at least) works in a bakery with her neighbour and best friend, Rona (Julia Hills). Bill loves her family, but often feels under-appreciated and over-worked (ring any bells, ladies?!). Rona, on the other hand, is a single woman and, well, a bit of an easy lay. She's yet to find Mr. Right, and is happily sleeping her way through the country until she does. Thankfully, she doesn't have that "Dorian Green" characterisation, though. In fact, with her bizarre haircut and hideous vibrant clothes, I'm surprised she pulls at all! I know it was 1991, but still!
Bill is married to Ben, a central-heating engineer (played by the late Gary Olsen). Ben is one of those men who never grew up - a real "Big Kid" who often develops fads for things. In later ...
