As many of you will know from reading my earlier reviews, I celebrated my fortieth birthday earlier this year, and as many of you will also know I love my 80's music. I wasn't aware of this compilation at the time, but was given it as a present by one of my friends. I subsequently discovered it was only released two days before my big day, and in many ways therefore, its release holds a special place in my collection.

As I said earlier I did not actually buy this CD myself so consequently I do not know how much my friend paid for it. However, being the nosey old git that I am, and in the name purely of research, I have been touring the various record shops to see how much this retails at. The cheapest I managed to locate it was in Tesco's for £11.87 although it is ...

Well the title itself is a misnomer for starters as the disco era was a fairly short period during the mid 1970's as disco was ousted from the music scene by Punk and the 80's were ruled by 2 Tone Ska then the New Romantics and synth music at least as far as the UK went any way.
Disco may have lived on into the 80's in America but it was replaced by electro, hip hop then rap followed by House music. Wikipedia even openly admits that disco died in 1979 but also states "the genre continued to be popular elsewhere during the 1980s", probably in less fashionable countries that hadn't adopted whatever was popular from England or America by then. Take it from someone who lived through all 3 decades, disco was dead and gone by the 1980's.
So whats on this album then?

Advantages: Fantastic Collection, Really good variety of cheesy pop classics! Disadvantages: Can't think of any, I love these CD's!!!

This CD describes itself as the ultimate 80's party experience, well ........... it certainly lives up to it!
The 3 CD set is packed with my favourite songs from the 80's and others that I had forgotten about!!!
The CD has been produced in conjunction with Reflex 80's bar (which just happens to me by favourite chain of bar!) so I knew that I was probably going to love this CD collection.
Such poptastic classics as Europe - The Final Countdown, Jason Donovan - Too Many Broken Hearts, Tiffany - I Think We're Alone Now, Wham - Club Tropicana, Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger, Communards - Don't Leave Me This Way and many many more feature on these CD's.
I recently had to drive my boyfriend to a football match over an hour away but these CD's kept me singing throughout the journey there and back without duplication of songs ...
