Additional notes

Album Notes: While it certainly seems odd that the Seeds' box set shares its name with a corrosive satire by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention--especially considering that the Seeds were probably the only garage-psych band who DIDN'T take a whack at \"Hey Joe,\" the song Zappa's parody is based on--FLOWER PUNK is an oddly apt title for a Seeds box set.

Review of Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols - Sex Pistols (The) by  andystrong

Advantages: A proper punk record
Disadvantages: Punk doesn't sound like this anyomre

...Album: Nevermind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols Artist: The Sex Pistols Released: 1977 Label: EMI Producer: Chris Thomas Johnny Rotten (John Lydon) - Vocals Steve Jones - Guitar Sid Vicious (John Richie) – Bass Paul Cook - Drums "There's No Future And England's Dreaming" This is the first of three music reviews I’m going to do on “punk” albums. The word punk has largely become redundant since the arrival of bands like Sum41, Blink 182 and the like. My own definition of punk may differ to others – but I intend to write about three groundbreaking punk records released in different times and three distinctly different musical climates . The first record, is rather predictably, “Nevermind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols” – the one and only punk album from 1977 to stand the test of time. Older readers will doubtless... Review of Sublime [PA] - Sublime (Punk) by  voicelessness

Advantages: It's Sublime, Fun, Singalong Summer Songs, Great guitar and lyrics
Disadvantages: No More Sublime :(

...song with turntables and cool bass. ***** Wrong Way: A ska-tastic number with an amazing trumpet solo! **** Same In The End: A fast ska-punk song with a soaring, heavy chorus. ***** April 29, 1992 (Miami): A hip-hop influenced track about looting and riots. **** Santeria: Possibly one of the best and most emotional Sublime songs ever written. Excellent melody with a beautiful guitar solo. ***** Seed: Another emotionally-wrought, fast ska-punk song with a solo to match Santeria. ***** Jailhouse: A fun reggae song with rasta style lyrics. **** Pawn Shop: A very laid-back, sunny afternoon song. **** Paddle Out: A fast rather-strange punk song. *** The Ballad Of Johnny Butt: An excellent Sublime cover of a classic jamaican song **** Burritos: A fast ska song with cool lead guitar about not being bothered to do anything... Simply Sublime
Review of Sublime [PA] - Sublime (Punk) by  nicolap

Advantages: Everything about it
Disadvantages: Haven't found any yet

...Sublime's self-titled third album, released in 1996, was the album set to make the band's mark on the world. However, just a few months before its release, Bradley Nowell (lead vocalist and guitarist with the band) died from a heroin overdose. This can only be seen as a major blow to the world of music. The album itself is outstanding. It combines the genres of ska, reggae, punk, rap, dub and rock, to make something totally individual. The instrumentation throughout is also a mix of these genres, with typical guitar, bass and drums, coupled with a Hammond B-3 organ and various acoustic guitars. As a whole, it seems a rather uplifting album unitl you listen carefully to some of the subjects of the songs. For example, 'Garden Grove' is about taking heroin, whilst 'April 29, 1992 (Miami)' is about looting in the LA riots... Read review
